I did find a few things out about Cobra kung fu. Here is a write up on the www.shaolin.com web site with little info. See if this sounds familiar.

with regards to Cobra Kung Fu.....
Cobra, in contrast, did not emphasize highly recognizable or showy techniques but rather very serious strikes to nerves and pressure points. Its characteristic hand technique was an open hand with the thumb curled underneath in order to maintain dynamic tension.

Also there is apparently a martial arts that actually calls itself "Cobra Martial Arts". It was developed by some guy named Darryl Grauman in 1988. His is a mix of Judo, Ju-jitsu and various styles of Kung fu. Maybe that might be something
