cheif as most of us know the highest level in some arts is the basic utilization of ones internal energy. in other arts (since i know more about the chinese ill use them as an example plus im biased)such as Shaolin or Wu Tang the understanding and use of ones chi are primary goals of even basic training.

in shaolin kung fu there is what ive come to know as shaolin build normal semi muscular frame and big bulbus belly like a pregnant woman. its not from monks wine or over eating its from what they call swallowing your breath (sinking your breath to your tan tien) and the are in which most westerners develope their six pack they get a bowling ball wrapped in leather.

oo did yo know that in some southern provinces of china women were not allowed to practice chi gung excersises because of their natural pouch in the tan tien area and the powers the be didnt like the idea of women looking as though they had more chi gung power then the men though the women were allowed to learn the fighting aspect since in shaolin chi gung is trained as a separate excersise. in Wu Tang the chi gung and fighting excersises are one in the same
