Junk builds up as we put s-h-i-t in it. Then when given the 'okay', it will clear out. That 'okay' are the substances we use to clear it out. This could range from water to algae to various kinds of foods.

SO you see..... The body is the street, on a more diluted level; the bloodstream, or the intestines, or our tissues - which are connected to the bloodstream, our organs, etc...

And when given rain - they wash away


In relation to our bodies not working like the example you gave, I was referring specifically to the part where you said "Too much water and the street itself starts wearing away". I'm not so simple that I can't pick up on a simplistic metaphor, accurate or not.
