Hi everyone. Since I am a disciple of Sifu Wong Kiew Kit, and since I've been trained in this art, I thought I would offer my perspective.
Cosmos Palm is my teacher's translation of the Chinese art known as
Hun Yuan Zhang (混元掌). The main difference between this art and Iron Palm (Tie Sha Zhang 鐵砂掌) is that one uses primarily external training methods, while the other uses purely internal training methods.
With Cosmos Palm, there is
no external training. There is no striking or hitting of anything. The training is purely internal. The only time you actually hit something is later when you test your force. For example, after training Cosmos Palm for a few years, you can test your force by stacking two bricks (without spacers) and breaking the bottom brick without breaking the top. Years later, you can stack three bricks and break the top one, the middle one, or the bottom one selectively.
But more impressive (to me, at least) is the ability of Cosmos Palm to heal -- both the practitioner, and other people. The internal energy of Cosmos Palm is dynamic and alive, and it is excellent for promoting health and vitality. The same energy can also be used to stimulate acupoints, just like acupuncture but without the needles. As a graduate student in acupuncture and Chinese medicine, I can honestly say that the results are remarkable.
For those who are curious, you can read more about this art in my teacher's books, particularly "The Art of Chi Kung" and "The Complete Book of Shaolin." However, an arcane art like Cosmos Palm cannot be effectively learned from a book. It must be learned directly from a high-level master.
Be well,
