| OTOH,the defender's demonstration of how he roots to defend against strikes is consistent. He does look like has good balance & structure etc. But his motions had a slightly exaggerated look. Granted this was for demo for large crowds, and on stage one needs to exaggerate to get a point across.
Done in a fighting situation, or even a full-contact demo, the defender's motions would probably be much smaller and faster and the attacker likely wouldn't fall over unless his balance was already disturbed by something else, like tripping over a rock or starting his attack off-balance.
So I wouldn't say this is ineffective, it's just -- demo mode. Exaggerated to make a point about the principle he's trying to illustrate.
