| Happeh, what I think you are doing is perceiving the exchange of basic emotions and operations of the brain for a higher meaning. The exchange of energy is sacred in any form.
The reason voodoo rituals are so fascinating is because they are voodoo rituals - just as a fighting match is a ritual of it's own. I see the similarities, but they are not equal. And magic and enchantment doesn't have to be about divine spiritual presence. These are conscious people who are in a state of supreme focus at the task at hand. They aren't envoking spirits - it is their own spirit you are seeing. Nothing divine, just them. I think the over-analysis of two highly skilled people is belitting them in a way.
Fighting has a raw primitive nature to it - as martial arts has an ancient spirituality to it. Undoubtedly there is going to be a battle of energy and intent, manipulation of emotions through intimidation and aggression. But these 'voodoo rituals', what do you think those dances are about? They are telling stories, like this small and insignificant battle, but on an epic scale. It is all relative. |
