Firstly, have you ever shattered someone's knees, tear out eyes and break elbows/nose How do you know your supposedly deadly technique ever work in the real fight
Secondly, bunkai fad in karate world is exactly taking the road you just described. Supposedly, there are hidden deadly techniques in karate kata which can only be discovered by bunkai. I personally I think it is silly. It is like saying that if you learn how to do eye poking, you can then outbox boxer.
Thirdly, because kyokushin karate emphasise bear knuckle full contact match without grappling element, Kokyshin karate tournament probably has the highest rate of injuries among the entire range of competition based martial arts including MMA. Instead of fantacising about applying deadly techinques, kyokushin fighters actually fight in the enviroment which could (and usually do) result in serious injuries if their defence fail.
If you ever come across Kyokushin dojo, check it out.
