I am looking for internet clips with traditional changchuan being performed. Also, If you can find a clip of Traditional Wah Lum or Tan Tui style's being performed I would like this very much. I keep trying to search for these clips but everytime I search for "Changchuan clips" on google it brings up a bunch of Wushu junk.
Only Wah Lum I could find was a sparring clip:
(more like a TKD student & WL student having a friendly match)

if I did Tan Tui like that my instructor would beat me senseless...
that was pretty weak..
and that sparring??

I've never seen a good Tan Tui done fast...
IMHO both were pretty lame because they're weak...
the stances should be low and powerfull, all action should be dedicated
this just ehhh.... sucked...
IMHO of course...

I agree about the sparring -- but it was the only "wah lum" video the search found.
The first tan tui video definitely looked like demonstration, for clarity, not so much for power or flavor etc. The second one is great, I know you're just looking at some old guy doing the roads in a high stance but you don't have to drag your butt on the ground to have a good stable root, flexibility & power. It's also fun looking at the old guy doing sequences within the roads that I recognize from some of my forms.
Anyway, you can't tell how good someone's skill is unless you trade hands with them in person. As the wah lum guy in the first vid learned ...

if you think Tan Tui is done with high sloppy stances and without power, you're wasting your time on that form...

Ummm... it'd work better if there were rights to see the video...
Plus Mike Martello is plenty good & plenty strong enough. Check around the mantis world before hammering his tan tui. If you look again at his technique, they're not overtly forceful but you can see the whip & itent of jing at the end of each strike.

Yes Martello knows his stuff. Sometimes videos are made for instruction, some for performance. You don't always know what you are seeing.

agreed...
but then again I just say that the way I learned it it was *always* hard, focussed and with low stances...
and I didn't see that in any of those clips...
