I don't think too highly of the system myself, but as Wu and Sammygirl had stated. It has to do with the individual. These days not all peoplego to a martial arts school to learn how destroy an attacker in less than a second. Some people just train for health or self-confidence. Personally I'd rather be able to take an attacker out as soon as possible, but then again that's me.

In Australia they have a karate school called Go Kan Ryu or GKR for short. It's exactly the same principle of marketing I guess. They come to your door and ask you to join up and offer some sweet deal to get you to sign up and pay a lot of money. The founder of GKR "Kanchou" Robert Sullivan only has a green belt in Goju Ryu if I remember correctly. But I guess their marketing is just so good, who knows?

That group is a notorious cult of BS, the only fake MA group where you can go from white belt to black belt instructor by paying your way and gain a school all in a week's worth of training.

I went there for a 'trial' lesson. However after knocking out a black belt in a 'friendly' sparring match, I was told never to return. Oh well.

Yeah, well one of my friends was training in GKR and I went for a trial lessonto have a look, then my friend opened his mouth telling everybody how good I am at kung fu. I was very embarrassed since I'm relatively stil a beginner. So he challenged me to a 'friendly' sparring match with him trying to knock me out. So... well you know how it ended. However when I return to Australia I might go and take another 'trial' lesson at another branch, hehe.

SD isnt as bad as that, however I will admit that as long as you can muddle your way through the material most people can reach Brown Belt. After that they are more strict on knowledge and execution.

My question to the group is this: If I were to become and instructor in Shaolin-do what could I do to help legitimize the style in the MA Community. Understanding there are things (like the history which many feel is questionalble or fake) I cant change, what would I need to do?
