Choy Lay Fut Video

Here are some video clips from the Hung Sing Martial Arts Association www.hungsingchoylayfut.com The school is a branch of the Ng Family Chinese Martial Arts Association www.ngfamilymartialarts.com

The video is from a demo we did last July. This is an edit of the full demo. The video is a little dark but....

Here is a lighter one. It's the full Ng Lun Choi

Enjoy!

It's called Ng Lun Choi or 5 wheel fist. It's one of the most basic forms in Choy Lay Fut.

For some strange reason, my school teaches that as an advanced set. We learn that at brown sash level in our curriculum.

I keep meaning to ask why, as (from what I have seen) it seems to be taught as a beginning set in most CLF schools. (Is that what you have seen CLFsean?) I know it is a beginning set in our Grandmaster's school.

Anyways, thanks for posting those!

Nope they're taught right after Siu Pao & Siu Jin. Beginning level... although it doesn't look right for a while, it gives them what they need with it... foundation training.

We start with the ten elemens of choy lay fut but the first "form" we teach is Ng Lun Ma followd by Ng Lun Choi. This is the first time I have heard of someone teaching Ng Lun Choi as an "advanced" form. What school are you from?

DFW's but his curriculum has NLM & NLC early on. Aaradia could answer that one better.

There are 2 little forms taught for absolute beginners to get them used to moving & linking the body. The first "real" sets are NLM & NLC.

White Dragon Schools. I go to the La Mesa Location. Actually, I do not go to DFW's school, but my school is part of GM DFW's Plum Blossom Federation as our Tai-Sifu (and founder of our schools) is one of GM DFW's long time students.

I know it is odd isn't it? You two are confirming what I had already thought and noticed, that most CLF schools teach it as a beginning set- including most other Plumblossom Federation Schools.

Mostly, it seems like we learn other forms at around the same levels as other CLF schools, Siu moi Fa, Broadsword form, etc. so actually CLFsean, I can't say why this is different. It baffles me.

I keep meaning to ask, but seem to forget when I am actually at the school. I just think of these things when away from my training times. Someday I will remember to ask.
