I was thinking of going with underground kung fu (in San Fran) and some things i found in Inside Kung Fu but cant say who the maker is. Any thoughts of distance learning as a whole. This may shead some light on some peoples clear lik/dislike of the Green Dragon Videos. |

Rep Power: 3 | | here IS Green Dragon's web-site; Green Dragon Kung-Fu, Gung-Fu, John Allen, Intstructional Videos I trained there for 8 yrs. when I first started in Kung-fu. They really work on strength, and low stances,...lots of isometric body programs with and without herbs. As I have trained with other Si-Fu over the years,..looking back, the forms for the most part were correct and authentic,(with-in' school to school slight movement/posture changes that shows up in ALL schools), Si-Fu John R. Allen is a very educated man, with tons of experience in Kung-Fu,(the internal styles are a little lacking because of poor posture),..and under the direction of GrandMaster Ong FeeMan at one time(he has passed on'), was thee' Best overall school I've seen. Since then training at other schools and correcting alot of posture glitches, all of my old forms from Green Dragon have become new again. |

Rep Power: 3 | | | and',... I must add, as was stated earlier,...don't judge a whole school by viewing one or two students,...lol'. EVERY school, no matter how good the Si-Fu is,..or How Famous they are, ALL have beginners' and students that Can't represent the 'whole' view of the style/school! Not Everybody 'gets it' as it were,...even though they might train hard or have a good mental understanding,..sometimes they aren't able to portray it in movement or action. Plus, as we all know,....just because someone trains in Kung-Fu,...doesn't mean they know how to apply it in a fight-situation! You can go to ANY school, in CHINA,(or elsewhere,..lol), with a World Famous Si-Fu and Demo-Team, and a Movie-Star used to Train there,..lol',...and still find that alot of students there can't fight, or aren't able to do forms correctly yet,..it's O.K.,...we are ALL training and trying our best towards the same goals,...we will progress at our own level. Rep Power: 160 | | | Wow! I clicked the link and got a promotional clip of some woman with a couple of axes pretending to chop a guy's head off and the subtitle "realistic fighting". That definitely highlights one issue with video training: if your marketing isn't up to scratch and you don't post sufficient information for people to judge without buying you can offer the best product in the world and no one is going to pay up.

Rep Power: 0 | | | I agree with John100 - description sounds good on a couple of these, but it would really help if they had a 5 second clip of the tape to know what you are buying. |

Rep Power: 220 | | | A good selection of those forms come from my System, they are good quality forms.
When they speak of realistic fighting, trust them when they say that, they do show the practical and realistic applications of the forms.
When it comes to the Weapon forms, they also show the practical application of that weapon in combat usage. |

Rep Power: 41 | | | well, the pic of the Sifu shows a man who is in excellent shape to fight. A lot of hard work goes into getting arms like that.
The number one rule. If the grandmaster looks like he sits around all day eating Cheesy Poofs, then that's what he probably does.
