Rep Power: 0 | | | Kung Fu San Soo Truth!!! Ok, I see a lot of crap about San Soo. Most of what I have seen is ridiculous, and the people writing it had no clue about what they were talking about! Kung Fu San Soo is based on the 5 Chinese families Choy Li Ho Fut Hung. It comes from the same lineage as the Choy Li Fut System. Now, the term "San Soo" is more of a concept. It is the sam as "San Shou" all it means is free fighting. This term was given to our art by our grandmater Jimmy H. Woo, his real name is Chen Siu Dek, becasue when he brought this art to america in the 30's, no one knew what it was. The proper name of the art would be Choy Li Ho Fut Hung San Soo Wu Shu Knug Fu. Try putting that on the front of your school. San Soo is not a sport or mma art. We do not compete in tournaments whatsoever. The reason being is we are a combat art. We teach to do whatever is necessary to win a fight on the street. Whether it is grabbing and ripping off a person's "manly hood" or biting, eye-gouging, strikes to the throat, etc. You can't apply San Soo to MMA. There are rules in MMA. Street fights are different. There are no rules, only survival. San Soo's history is like all other kung fu, filled with myths, legends and folklore. We are in the process of trying to research the history and exact lineage of our art, but it is hard considering that Mao Tse Tung eradicated many of the martial art styles, training texts and monasteries when the communist Chinese took over power at the end of WW2. I hope this helps clear some of the confusion on our art. Also something some people may find interesting, San Soo has been called by Inside Kung Fu Mag, the most devestaing form of Kung Fu in existence. Also, Jimmy Woo was ranked by them as one of the 5 deadliest fighters of all time. Thanks! |

Ah, yes. Inside Kung Fu. The definitive source of martial arts wisdom. | “ | Also, Jimmy Woo was ranked by them as one of the 5 deadliest fighters of all time. Thanks! | ”
Um, just askin' but ... who did he kill? 'Cause he'd have to kill a lot of ppl to hit the top 5. He's in the running with folks like Audie Murphy, Miyamoto Musashi, King Leonidas, Chairman Mao, the crew of Enola Gay... it's a pretty competitive list there.

I know, a lot of there articles are lame, just though it might be interesting.

This isn't so easily answered. Who did he kill may not be answerable at all. But in China at during the time he was there they held tournaments. This was where a person posted a challenge in their town or province. Then whoever wanted to except this challenge did so and a fight was staged in the town. These fights lasted 15 to 30 seconds with the victor walking away and the loser being carried away. Jimmy Woo partcipated in mny of these tournaments. As well as his uncle who taught him. Niether of them ever lost, and how many fights they won, who knows. This really isn't the point of the post, I thought it would be interesting, and apparantly I was right. Thanks for your replies!! |

How is what he did related to CLF? Who taught who CLF to be included in San Soo?
I've seen video of Jimmy H Woo from 1970 or 1971 at a demo. There's no CLF in it save a common piece of a bow from the set he did, which that piece can be found in several different Southern styles I can think of.

Ok. The art goes back to the founders of Choy Li Fut, Choi Fuk, Lei Yau Saan, and Chan Yuen Wu. All these could possibly be spelled different depending on the dialect, Mandarin, Catonese, etc. Chan Yuen Wu used his buddhist name of "Fut" instead of Chan. From there it was passed down to Chan Heung (who was Chan Yuen Wu's nephew), then to Chan Goon Bak, Chan Siu Hung, and Chan Siu Dek (Jimmy Woo). This lineage is what is posted in the Choy Li Fut museums in China. We have done extensive research on the history and lineage of the art. Now as far as the movements being the same, they probably aren't. After passing from Chan Heung, the others of the Chan family added to it and changed the movements. But believe me, the families are the same. Chan Heung is really the founder, but the Choi Fuk, Lei Yau Saan, and Chan Yuen Wu are the ones that taught Chan Heung. After being taught by his uncle, Chan Heung sought out Lei Yau Saan and Choi Fuk to continue his training. Hope this helps! Check out my website under my username for more info on San Soo, thanks!!!

My Spidey sense is tingling
In other words, it's recently made up. | “ | It is the sam as "San Shou" all it means is free fighting. | ”
It's already been proven that they are not the same | “ | This term was given to our art by our grandmater Jimmy H. Woo, | ”
As I said, he recently made it up | “ | his real name is Chen Siu Dek, becasue when he brought this art to america in the 30's, no one knew what it was. | ”
Because it was made up, noone in China really knows either. | “ | San Soo is not a sport or mma art. We do not compete in tournaments whatsoever. The reason being is we are a combat art. | ”
ROTFLMAO!!
Dude, please quit spilling the absolute BS.
You seem like you're alright, but if you expect me to believe this battle cry of McDojo's, you got another thing coming. | “ | We teach to do whatever is necessary to win a fight on the street. Whether it is grabbing and ripping off a person's "manly hood" or biting, eye-gouging, strikes to the throat, etc. You can't apply San Soo to MMA. There are rules in MMA. Street fights are different. LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dude, you expect people to believe that clap trap?
Pure 100% BS!!!!!!!
I don't know what's scarier, the fact you keep repeating it or that you actually believe it.
I tell you what, post a vid of you guys whooping people on the street, then one of you whooping an MMA fighter who accepts your "no rules" way of fighting and I will believe you, otherwise it's absolutely pure hogwash LARPer fantasy | “ | San Soo's history is like all other kung fu, filled with myths, legends and folklore. | ”
Or more likely, myths, myths and lies and more lies cause it was amade up art. | “ | We are in the process of trying to research the history and exact lineage of our art | ”
Good luck, you'll need it, it's impossible to trace the lineage of an art proven as a recent invention and it'll never happen with the history | “ | Also something some people may find interesting, San Soo has been called by Inside Kung Fu Mag, the most devestaing form of Kung Fu in existence. | ”
OK, once again PURE BS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dude, please stop with the stupidity, where I thought you were alright before, now I realize you're a childish LARPer playing t3h d34dly13st | “ | Also, Jimmy Woo was ranked by them as one of the 5 deadliest fighters of all time. Thanks! | ”
Show us the proof of this, show me the document stating this.
If you can't then it's a lie, it's made up, it's total 100% pure crap, it's LARPer fantasy once again.

Rep Power: 31 | | | Choy Lee Fut is NOT related to San Soo Kung Fu. I could care less all the other histories of San Soo or what people think.
But leave Choy Lee Fut out of it. Because your San Soo is not related to our system. Don't bring Choy Lee Fut into this. We have nothing to do with San Soo Kung Fu.

Rep Power: 0 | | | I don't know why you people are so ignorant. I'm trying to just give some information on this. Now for this stuff about mma, we have a San Soo instructor in California that does train his students for "mma". One of his students recently won a world king of the cage championship. I really don't care what any of you think or say. If you really believe you can train yourselves to take strikes like I mentioned before then by all means, believe what you want. Now for the person who said San Soo and San Shou are't the same, you show me the proof! They are the same. Now, no one in China would recognize Kung Fu San Soo, it's too broad of a meaning. But they would recognize Choy Li Ho Fut Hung Ga kung fu. That's what we teach. As for the guy who says that choy li fut has no relation to san soo, whatever. Don't care what you think. All of you are pretty ridiculous anyway. |

Rep Power: 220 | | | Either or, he's claiming that it's so deadly that it's not allowed in any tournament/MMA fight, and only is allowed on the str33ts due to it's d34dl1n3ss.
He claims the founder is ranked as one of the 5 deadliest fighters of all time.
I demand the proof of this, video of them kicking a$$ on the streets and the proof of Jimmy Woo being named the deadliest.
Not everyone is a foolish, gullible LARPer, these claims are pure crap, there is no truth to them in any way.
So, sansoo85, produce the proof of your claims, video and certification of Woobies d34dl1ness, if you can't do it, it's all LARPer fantasy.
I'm waiting with baited breath for the proof you shall provide us here, but I think we both know you'll never do such because you're making it all up.

It's a shame that people who are so gullible exist in the world, these are the people giving TMA's such a horrible name and reputation.
Just call them what they are, LARPers

Well is it Choy Li Ho Fut Hung Ga Kung Fu or just Choy Li Ho Fut Hung San Soo Kung Fu? What does the Ga stand for BTW? and Ho Ga? I've never even heard of a Ho Ga style...
Sansoo85 - I have nothing against Jimmy Woo or his brand of kung fu san soo, but by coming on here claiming he is t3h d34dly you're doing your master and your chosen style a big disservice... Heck I bet if your teachers knew what kind of things you were saying they'd be kicking your a$$.
