...yet in one pic he is clearly bare-chested.
Did the disciples have to shave Sifu????
And why not his face too then???

Rep Power: 87 | | Hey bobblehead, I know very little about shaolin-do or the Grandmaster you have questions about, but I have heard of his condition before ever hearing of him. There are a couple of brother acrobats I had seen in a documentary that had this condition.
It is a rare but documented condition called hypertrichosis.
Here are links stolen from a previous post I made elswhere. hypertrichosis information and details on treatments What Is Hypertrichosis? Human Werewolf Syndrome Explained
Here is a link about people in history with this ailment, including the SD grandmaster. The Human Marvels: Vindicating those once labeled as freaks.

Rep Power: 59 | | Have heard about the acrobats before as well as the condition and for the record know nothing about Shaolin-Do.
From my perspective however, it would be easy to see why people might find the school to be a little hokey sounding, going solely from the readily available information, that is the almighty google.
I did look at the pics of current instructors, most had at least a couple decades with the system and looked to be healthy happy individuals, but once again it is just the net.
The question i posted in response to was what people had against SD, thought i was just having humor at the obvious.
For example, from the last link you posted... | “ | Sometimes a story comes along that contains so many fanciful elements one must assume that it is the work of fiction. Such is the story of Su Kong Tai Djin. | ” | |
So any questions referred to were purely meant to express my contempt and distrust for any information i get on the net, not to denigrate any style or ridicule any segment of the population.
...there, my pc post for the month!
That felt almost as good as reading it was okay to throw out a book.
Okay, not that good.

Once again Unkotare your grasp of the english language seems to be in question. I simply asked for constructive information not the "you guys s@ck" responses. As for the first few responses. Any style that teaches its students that they should make fun of anyone with a medical handicap must be just the style I am looking for, because we all know only perfect people like you can learn to fight.
now if the response I got are the only reasons out there I guess my question has been answered. |

I see. My grasp of the English language is clearly the problem, because you are otherwise communicating so effectively.
Would you like a larger shovel, or is that one working out well for you?

Ws, why don't you enlighten me and tell me more about SD? That would seem to be more constructive than trying to tell everyone how they should or should not respond.
From your opening post it seemed you were expecting exactly what you got, no? Why do you think that is?
One reason for sure is that i am quite an a**, but i find pretty much everything on the net suspect, positive or negative.
If you like what you study, cool. Tell me about that.
On the other hand, if you wanna set yourself up like that, you can expect potshots left and right, depending on where you post and the attitude of the mods.
I grew up in an environment where heckling is taken for granted, expected and even given importance in the development of the younger crowd.
Talk about Lam Sai Wing being a fat butcher, true, and make some joke about it, maybe not true but funny, and you can be sure i'm not going to get my undies in a bunch.
No disrespect to my GMs, but it is just the net.

Rep Power: 41 | | | Bobbles right you got the response your original post asked for. Remember its not how you meant it but the perception that really matters in life. A persons perception of reality is there reality. So remember the snide remarks you commented on can be said tarted with the perception of the defensive remakes you made originally.
Now as I said what problems I have is the extent of the claims made of the founders knowledge of forms. It seems that many schools within the shaolin-do ask for alot of money, not all, but many. A few other shady business practices also give people an uncomfortable feeling when it comes to the subject. |

You mean, how it's already been proven that their current master steals forms from other systems, renames and butchers them and says they're his own? |

Keep in mind that almost everything in MA forums is speculation and hearsay. Questions about SD abound on some forums, but then, I've seen similar questions asked of all big multischool systems including my own.
The only way you can truly tell how good an individual or his system is, is to cross hands with them.

Read the SD thread here, where the proof was provided.
This has also been discussed elsewhere, with proof and facts given.
A good example is the Tai Chi they "teach" as their "own"
Speculation? Nope.
Fact? Yep. |

Rep Power: 153 | | | Can you link to that thread?
Can you show where they are claiming the Tai Chi is their own?
Is there any reason for them NOT to slap their name on their brand of Tai Chi? (It's not like no one's ever done it before ... you know, Yang, Sun, and Wu)
Is their way of doing things hurting you?
