I hate when I see people in Kungfu tops(saam) with a karate belt(obi).
That says quite abit right away, I dont think they even realize how dumb it is but THEN they also suck in motion as well. Might as well start speaking Mandaraponese.
I try my best not to criticize. I mean, if you think about it, all of us MA geeks are wearing clothes we wouldn't normally wear on the street.
However, I do think wearing the outfits "correctly" -- trying to duplicate the way an outfit is worn by the culture you're trying to honor -- is important. Many TCMA tournaments actually count "how you look" in the scoring (although the "look" rules are kind of nebulous and I have my own reservations about that).

I think it would be interesting to see what kind of response I get with a karate gi on and a black sash.
Maybe I'll video myself doing one of my old Okinawa Kempo Kata like that, maybe seisan or even better I'll do Sanshin Kata, really badly. lol post it on youtube.

Ha!
He's apparently one of the Shaolin Do grandmasters...
From Shaolin Do Association website....
Lineage of the Grandmasters
Grandmaster Su Kong Tai Djin (1849 - 1928)
Grandmaster Su Kong Tai Djin
The first of the three grandmasters was born in the Fukien province of China in 1849. He was born with a rare genetic condition which resulted in his entire body being covered with hair. His parents, convinced they had given birth to a demon, abandoned the infant into a nearby forest. A group of passing monks heard the baby's cries, and being educated, realized he was human, and brought him to the Shaolin Temple. Given the child's appearance, the monks knew he would not be adopted by any family and decided to raise the child themselves.
This situation was unique from all others because Su Kong Tai Djin was raised from birth in the temple. He was not only raised with the monks' ideals in mind, he was also not limited in his studies to one master. He was treated as everyone's favorite son and could study with anyone. The masters responded to his rare enthusiasm for learning and he quickly mastered hundreds of forms which had never been accomplished by one man before. A rare photograph of Grandmaster Su Kong Tai Djin
After learning the temple was going to be attacked by the government, the monks evacuated the temple, taking with them priceless books, scrolls, and artwork and fled into the mountains after setting fire to the temple themselves. One of the young disciples who fled the temple with Su Kong Tai Djin was a young boy name Ie Chang Ming.
Su Kong Tai Djin died in 1928 at the age of 79.

Ya know, I was saying above that it's bad to make fun of clueless people. But yesterday, on my way to the ballgame, there were a couple guys in karate gis with white belts handing out flyers. And I was like "geez, some instructor's making his white belts go hand out flyers? And look at their gis, they're so cheap you can see through them! And who prints the school name in English: 'Foot Fist Way'? What a buncha suckers..."
Then I walk into the school tonight and there's a bunch of flyers near the entrance that all look like this:
Yeah I got pwned.
