Rep Power: 59 | | Perhaps, but it certainly has the social acceptance here. In fact federal documents from the '80's detailed this and the effect Operation Green Harvest would have on the local population, ie. increased alcohol and hard drug consumption which would lead to more crime.
To my knowledge, pot is very benign and arguably much less dangerous/harmful than alcohol or cigarettes. This is not the case with crack, heroin etc. so the "everything should be legal" thing is a stretch as well.
I went to a birthday party on Sunday, at a house owned by an engineer, attended by professionals from all walks of life. Needless to say...
On the other hand i have little to no patience or sympathy for the ice-heads.
(meth smokers)

Rep Power: 100 | | | Eh, I have zero interest in getting high but agree it should be made legal and taxed. People are going to smoke anyway, why not make some money off it?

Rep Power: 100 | | | People are gonna rob banks anyway, so why not just have them leave 30% of what they steal at the door as they leave the bank and call it even? I mean, think of all the trouble and expense that goes into security and police and possible violence. Just relax duuuudes, it's all goooood...

Rep Power: 160 | | | What entertains me about this debate is the hypocracy. Think all those senior police, politicians and lawyers stopped smoking the odd joint the minute they left uni? Yet there they are standing up on their hind legs proclaiming the evils of legalisation. The drunks are the worst.

Oh, it goes by frequency! Then driving over the speed limit and public urination should also be allowed.

Rep Power: 59 | | | The FDA and two separate large scale studies failed to find a single death attributed solely to pot.
Not so for speeding, crack etc.
Robbing banks involves other people, and occasionally deaths too...
Next?

Rep Power: 100 | | | No next. I said it was just potheads who just wanted to smoke their pot. Nothing more to it. Society will not benefit from this.

Rep Power: 59 | | | Actually we'd make millions in taxes, save even more on the drug war and free up tremendous amounts of prison space...
...and Nabisco stock would soar!!!!!!
Mwahahahahahahahaaaaa!!!
A new world order indeed!
