Rep Power: 100 | | | IMPORTANT: SCAMS! Please read! A very alert user forwarded a PM to me today from another member here. This private message was a variation of the old email Nigerian Scam.
Please be aware of this and if you receive a PM, email, instant message, etc. from anyone that asks for private information it is a scam. No matter how much money they promise you, it is your bank account that will be empty at the end of the transaction.
The offending user has been identified and dealt with, and if you have received a suspicious pm from another member please feel free to forward it to me.
Because of this abuse you must now have at least 10 posts before you can use the Private Messaging system.
For more information about the Nigerian Scam click here.

Rep Power: 38 | | Dude! I told you, Chief Nmubugwe is legit! I swear, i've got my 20% already! ;-)
For those of you who do get these emails, I suggest the following:
1. Set up a new email account with hotmail or lycos etc.
2. Reply to the email stating how willing you are to help, but you are aware of fraudsters, and as such you want proof that the guy is sincere.
3. Request an absurd photo, for example one I had:
"I'd like to see you sitting on your ceremonial throne, and as you love Real Madrid, I would like to see you in their football colours, with you holding a football over your head."
4. Post said picture here.
Nb: Do not use your proper email account, use a pre-made one just for this purpose so that they dont bombard you with crap later |

I've had a similar one telling me that someone's been using my PayPal illegitimately. Funny thing is, I don't have a PayPal account... Strange how they could use my account with out my permission, especially when I don't have one.
