<font face="Verdana"><font size="1">&quot;Kalaripayat&quot; or one of it derivations is possibly the oldest, still practiced fighting systems. It has been said that Kalaripayat is an incarnation of the original &quot;Mother&quot; martial art that is responsible for the martial direction of many modern or traditional fighting systems.</font></font><br />

<font face="Verdana"><font size="1">Formal standardizations to the system in the 1100's and 1200's may have preserved or lost some of the original flavor that did influence the foundational martial arts of China; arguably the forerunner of many of todays martial arts.</font></font><br />
