It's base on the principle that the mind, body, and energy is inseparable and that all living things can join as a whole. The whole means healthy. Healthy is being free of dysfunctions. Now a dysfunctions can be mental, emotional, and/or physical.

It's like bone manipulation, physical therapy and reiki.

I do in some cases. Sometimes, I used specific fingers to hold. It's a lot like martial arts.

what is the concept of energy like?

is it in the manner of qi, prana that kinda thing?

does it have a specific name?

universal life energy...some call it qi, prana or that kinda thing, but it's just a name.

all things of matter are energy. Our own bodies are sub-atomic partials and each partial is living.

Do you practice or are you interested? What do you do exactly? I might be able to bridge my experiences with your own.

i have been training in a FMA system here in the UK known as rapid arnis

i feel it would help to know more about the healling aspects of fillipino culture

currently i am involved in medical bio-engineering

i am researching heart tissue from a mechanical engineering point of view

any pointers or help would be much apprieciated

Medical bio-engineering...that sounds high tech to me and I'm not expert on that subject. But if it is what I think it is, let me share this with you, although, you probably have heard this before. If a person as a cardiovascular problem such as a clog artery, the heart/body can build a new artery path, like a bridge over the clog. It's amazing how the body is able to regenerate itself.

As a practitioner, I believe the bodies ability to self-heal. I can't heal anyone, but much like christians through prayer, indigenous people through rituals, and medical nurses now practicing touch healing...the common believe is that a practitioner can can improve on a situation, but not necessary can't change an outcome. That's not to say that miracles don't happen. It's just not scientifically proven, unless you consider the bodies ability to self-heal as a miracle.

Under this concept it doesn't require a person receiving treatments to believe in the hilot. Sometimes the effects are instance and in other cases it just improves upon a situation the body is already handling.

In the Philippines, their are some cultures that use rituals. For example, someone might have a ruptured appindex. The indigenous solution is an all night ritual that requires food to be place on a small raft down river. The spirits that have cause the ruptured appindex will follow the food down river and leave the ill person. This doesn't work for a person that needs immediate medical attention.

Is there a healing aspect of rapid arnis?
