Rep Power: 100 | | | sleeeeeep I work with a lot of students, and I always (and in vain) try to tell them that getting enough sleep is important to their ability to learn and retain information. They usually don't listen, and I usually don't take my own advice.
Have you all found a difference in your training based on how much shut-eye you get? |

I think it doesn't matter much... everyone n his dog says 8 hr of sleep is IMPORTANT. but it deosn't matter much...
it depends on the person n his body's need. I know ppl who do not sleep for more than 4-5 hr... and they are quite healthy, wealthy and wise too... like I said it doesn't matter much..

I take things as they come usually...
when I train really intense, that's the time I have problems getting any sleep...
I can live with that
if it's stress at work and I notice that during the day I cannot concentrate that well I grap my melatonine and make sure I get my hours...

Rep Power: 69 | | | I've always found proper sleep to be very important to me. I don't even have the discipline to maintain a good workout routine if I'm not getting enough sleep.

Rep Power: 0 | | | well, when I can't get much sleep it's because I'm stressed and the sleeps just a reflection of that so it's not the training it's the stress... if that makes any sense at all |

I'd have to agree, I get about 4 a day and the rest is doing a physical job, schooling, training. When I get more sleep I tend to tire out easier than if I don't, so it pretty much depends on the person.

Rep Power: 46 | | | i have to agree with you mei hua. Also, I used to be the type of person that thought I NEEDED atleast 8 hours of sleep. I did'nt function properly if I did'nt get atleast 8......though you know what......It was all in my head. Now all I need is atleast 4 and I'm doing good......6 hours a day is max now...

Rep Power: 100 | | | Well, I;m with Chief and Mei Hua. The more I train, the less sleep I need. The worse I treat my body (esp. alcohol) the more I get like a huge cat and nap all the time! |

Rep Power: 0 | | for me its more culmative
if ive been learning alot then go and train (ie learn more) or go out dancing and then dont get much sleep
and this carries on for a few days (sometimes weeks if im feeling particularly manic) i start to exhibit flu like symptoms and my concentration levels go down
im not very good at stayimg still but training or dancing helps me sleep and yes i do learn better when rested |

Rep Power: 20 | | I average about 6 and a half hours a night. If I have a few days in a row of about 4 hours or less then I start to shut down. Any more than that and I'm ok. I do tend to sleep in an hour or 2 more on the weekends.
You gotta love the weekends! |

Though its possible for you to do really well without the nominal amount of sleep, i would seriously suggest getting it. Part of monkeybraindness comes from lack of sleep "Oh i can just train tomorrow, i'm too tired now."
