These are good points.
The only thing I question is it's usefulness as a pain killer, for me(don't know about any of you others who've smoked it) it makes me more sensitive and so I feel pain alot more when on it than off.

Rep Power: 99 | | | I'll be honest, I suspect, that (like me when I used to smoke weed) - you're defending something you like doing 'cos you want to keep doing it. I also can't help but think you are deluded in thinking this way. Regarding the medical uses, that's fine too. This isn't about weed consumption in general, it's specifically about whether or not it is useful in MA! My warning against skunk is just a caution, and you can take that how you want.
Sleep when tired, eat when hungry, train when alert, smoke when chilling.
As an aside - I will not concede at any point on this issue, not least because this public forum is open to young people, and I don't think it's good for experienced MA'ists to give the impression it's okay to get stoned and train - regardless of personal experience. End of.
Here's an alternative question: Do you guys think smoking would help you meditate?

I agree, a sober mind sees more and trains smarter, I only ever tried smoking and training once and once was enough, I couldn't focus enough or move properly. | “ | Here's an alternative question: Do you guys think smoking would help you meditate? | ” | |
If done in moderation, yes it can, if you use just a tad too much it distracts more than it helps and thus disrupts meditation

And if you use too much, pass out as soon as you close your eyes

Perhaps you've misunderstood me. I personally think meditation requires you to be alert - not zoned out - as if it were the last minute of your life. The trick is to be relaxed at the same time!
I think weed could be intepreted as helping because it makes you disengage from problems that are distracting, but that (IMO) is perhaps not the purpose of meditating. Meditating should make you able to accommodate those problems, sublimate the problems, not ignore them.
So, here's another question - what do you think is the purpose of meditation?

Focus the mind, enable the mind/body to deal with and dispel the issues that disturb it, heighten the functions of the mind/senses in a natural way, make the mind work smoother, relax the body.

that, in a nutshell, is why I think pot is no good in either MA or meditation.
I'd be interested to hear j100's views on weed and yoga. Do you think weed can help your yoga?

Rep Power: 220 | | I do not disagree with your view.
I think it's more a hindrance for such purposes than a help.
I think it does have other uses and so could be applied in those manners.
But in the grand scheme of things, to each their own, it might be useful to some while not to others, to settle this once and for all, on the 16th half of us will get giffed and the other half will stay sober, then we'll battle it out and see what happens
