On the matter of x-rays . . . in my opinion, some chiropractors overuse x-rays. It seems to be trending toward using them more along the "red flags" lines, those instances where failing to take an x-ray would be negligence. Xrays are ordered based on exams, not the other way around, and some exams just don't merit an x-ray. I can understand that a lack of xrays might make you uncomfortable, though.
One thing you CAN be certain of - your chiro was prepared to put his license on the line with his decision, and didn't make it lightly. I can trust in that. |

Rep Power: 0 | | | I have a neuromuscular disorder which went undiagnosed for years. during that time I saw a chiro ffcor about a year thinking it would really help. Boy was I wrong. Due to my condition bone spurs formed preventing full range of motion in my neck. After seeing the chiro I regained full range of motion. however now because of the constant muscles spasms I have my vertabrae constantly fall out of place and pinch nerves. So in the end it made my condition worse and harder to diagnose me because my disorder is supposed to be accompanied by limited range of motion. Now that I have my diagnosis (cervical dystonia) I was told that a chiro wouldn't go near me. So basically because of their limited medical knowledge they can be making things worse for you and they wouldn't even know it.

Rep Power: 3 | | | I personally prefer osteopaths to chiropractors because osteopaths don’t use x rays. So I think they have a better hands on feel for how muscles bones and posture all interact.
Two things which people have not mentioned.
Traditional Thailand massage which is actually descended from indian Vedic medicine. One of the key principles is balancing the alignment of skeleton and muscles.
Alexander technique. Alexander technique is about very gentle relaxation exosises often lying down or sitting which help to increase the movement in joints, correct bad body posture, and build habbits of good posture. Alexander technique does not involve any manipulation or any strong pressure on muscles which means that you can apply it to a serious or painful problem safe in the knowledge that you won’t make the injury worse. Its very useful for easing the pain of chronic neck or back injuries. |

Rep Power: 9 | | | It is really hard sometimes to get a good doctor, therapist, or Chiropractor. I know that I have had great success with mine. However, he does not just crack and realign, but he does so many other tests to diagnose his patients. Then he utilizes both Western and Eastern methods to treat. He fits the treatment to the patient. Something that many doctors don't do.
My suggestion is to ask around and talk to many about your problem. I'd tell you to go and see mine, but I don't think you are in the area.

I have a great Thai massage person that I go to periodically. When I used to compete, I would go to her the day before to get all my kinks out.

Rep Power: 141 | | | i think a combination of chiro and physio is the one that worked best for me
the chiros arent afraid to move the bones about
where as a physio helpd to keep the bones in place
in my experience osteopatha tend to be trained chiros as well
