Thanks for the advice though.

Rep Power: 39 | | | Your Joining the service? If your thin you have nothing to worry about its when your large is when your in the dog house. I actually have met a lot of soldiers who are actually under wieght. Nothing is said. The military may put the wieght you are looking for on you. Also remember the military (if thats what you were refering to) is only worried about the appearence of being fit they dont really care if you are so research everything they tell you that you can....Without disobeying orders ofcourse. |

Lol, every time I have a birthday my boyfriend tells me that this is the year I'm going to get fat. He gets so mad because I can eat whatever I want and I never gain a pound. Of course, if I did actually start putting on wait, he probably wouldn't be so cool with it.
And the weight in the military thing; I have a friend who was 95lbs when he joined the Army! (I'd say he's about 5'3".) He got a LOT of crap about it and was constantly being force-fed. |

Mhmm, USMC.
And I believe they have a lower body fat % then the Army allows, correct?

Rep Power: 15 | | | Ah, the old BMI "controversy".
The Body Mass Index was designed for large-scale research involving hundreds of people. That way, for everyone whose lean body mass is higher, there is one who is lower, and it evens out. It was never intended to be applied to individuals.
I'm 177 cm (about 5'9.5") In my early 20's my weight dropped to 50 kg or 110 lbs, my resting heart rate was about 110/min, & I was eating about 7,000 calories a day. I kept getting doctors who had junk fooded themselves through all their years of doctor training, and who didn't seem to think I had any health problems because I was thin. Never mind that I hadn't slept in several months. I suspect I had some type of autoimmune disorder, possibly triggered by a virus I had shortly before this episode.
I was measured at the doctor's a few weeks ago at 88kg (194 lbs) with a similar body fat percentage as I did at 50kg, (eating maybe half what what I did then, too.) This puts me halfway between overweight and obese on the BMI.
Long story short is that unless you have that exact average body frame, the charts are useless. In which case, your 1.3 siblings probably share body type with you. |

Rep Power: 17 | | Yah, that link told me I was 18% but I measured it recently with one of those hand-held machine thingies and it was 11%. According to the link, that would make me skeletal and dying, which I'm certainly not. |

Seriously, though the BMI scale is wacked. Unfortunately the army changed the way it did its tape and now it goes exactly along with the BMI. Did you use a Caliper to find your Body fat Miss K? |

Rep Power: 0 | | | According to that BMI I should way 176 pounds and that would be at the high end of normal. I weight 205 give or take a few pounds either way depending. When I was in high school 15 - 18 years ago and wrestled and was in the best shape of my life and running 5 miles every day I weighed 160 lbs. I think that for me to weigh 175 pounds would be near impossible (not to mention make me look sickly). |

lol, no pics any time soon, I'm afraid. I'm hopeless with that kind of thing (posting pics on forums and stuff). And not sure what a Caliper is. It was just a little hand-held machine and you enter your gender and weight then grip it between both palms and it tells you how much body fat you have. | |
