Our body can’t work without the Brain. It is the control center of the human body. It is exceedingly complex and has multiple vital duties. In fact, while scientists have long studied the brain, there is still much to learn. The brain is vital to the proper functioning of the body, reasoning and emotions. Brain injuries are often devastating to an individual and his or her family.
Studying and researching about this complex organ is the job undertaken by the UT Center of BrainHealth. The center has been in the process of finding new breakthroughs in the field of autism, attention deficit disorder, Alzheimer’s and other significant brain issues. Its mission is threefold: Understanding, protecting and healing the brain. It can be elaborated as follows:
· Understanding the brain’s ability to restore or protect healthy brain function. · Protecting the brain from unnecessary mental decline · Healing the brain through treatments that regenerate brain function
The center is assisted in its efforts by a board of directors. The Leadership Council of the center includes Sallie and Frederic Asche, Jr.Claudia and Dennis Berman, Toni and Norman Brinker, Dianne Cash, Theresa and David Disiere, Patsy Donors, John Harbin, Matrice Ellis-Kirk, among others as its members
