Rep Power: 160 | | | Hemp protein I'm really fussy about what I eat. I need to get more protien in. I don't want to spend a fortune on organic meat only to swill down cheap meat extract. I'm not keen on dairy or wheat sourced protien - so I'm looking at the hemp stuff.
Is it just marketing? Protien is protien, right?

Rep Power: 24 | | | Actually, protein does not equal protein. If you eat beef, about 70% can be used by your body, the rest go the same way all the food you can't digest goes. If you eat an egg, though, over 90% can be used. The problem is that proteins consist of amino acids. There are 20 amino acids, making it possible to form more different types of proteins than there are water molecules in all oceans. So, if you eat plant protein, your body can't use most of it because it's too different from the protein you need. The most effective protein source for humans would therefore be human meat. I don't want to turn canibal to gain muscle, though.
This is all general info on the subject, though. Based on that, I can only recommend animal protein over plant protein, with amino acids that are as free as possible being best, because it's easiest for the body to build protein it can use from them.
Think of amino acids as buildingblocks, proteins as skyscrapers. You can build skyscrapers from the blocks with less than half the energy than it takes to tear them down and build them again-it's easier to build human proteins from amino acids than from animal proteins, because they don't have to be split apart and put together again.

Rep Power: 35 | | | As philip said, protein does not equal protein.
Some sources are easier absorbed then others, HOWEVER there are foods that combined with other foods can make the protein easier for your body to absorb.
I cant remember the name of the drink, but there was a vanilla+soy drink that really helped me keep my protein intake high while in america. |

Because I keep burning down and burning down and it's time to look at either eating more or training less. I don't want to train less.

listen to everyone one who posted in this thread if you want to be inadaquate in your gains.
NO one in this thread knows what they are talking about
Eating human flesh IS NOT GOOD FOR YOU. 1/2 people who eat the flesh of the same species they belong to, will gain a jolly disease that is famous now a days for infecting cows. Whoever said that read something wrong, because that was insanely ignorant information.
IT DOESNT MATTER WHAT SPECIES YOUR EATING(unless its your own)
Eat LOTS of chicken. 35 grams of protein(roughly). Go to your local vitamin store and buy Whey Protein....I suggest Whey. If you want to get technical, take whey during the day, and drink CASEIN protein before bed. Both can be found at BodyBuilding.com. Then click Cyberstore. Of course if you are serious as you state to be.
Conclusion...You should be taking rough 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight.
You do the math.
I can give you a good routine if you so desire my help, because no one else with suffiently give you such. If you want my help E-mail, or Private Message me, or whatever this message board offers.
I'd be glad to help, because I was once in your shoes.(questions wise...but Im FAR from a PRO)

Dude, firstly, i'm not out to get you after what you put on my thread, i just want to say this.
I am fairly sure that many people, myself included, know what they are talking about. Nutrition is one of the areas that i happen to pride myself on being knowledgeable in, and i practice 90% of what i preach (and i'm working on that last little ten). I'm constantly willing to accept new practices, and look into new theories, and i am constantly UPDATING what i know. Nutrition is a large scale hobby of mine.
Its a fairly offensive, and probably not the cleverest comment to say that noone knows what they are talking about on this subject.
Careful what you say, its not coming off nicely.
(PS: I do however agree, that it aint a good thing to eat human flesh... Not least of all because its illegal, however it does matter what species you eat for the protein you want. If you'd like me to elaborate, just ask.) |

Rep Power: 8 | | | I don’t know much about protein, it doesn’t really come up a lot on my daily dietary awareness list, but I do care about nutrition in general. Even that isn’t really that much of a concern to me, by that I mean that I don’t narrow it down to a molecular science, I just keep it down to common sense. In the world of common sense food choices you will be confronted with situations like tuna sandwich on wheat bread or cheeseburger. Just things like that for the general choice. Getting back to the topic of protein and you (john100). It is totally my opinion, im not trying to tell you what is right or wrong, im just trying to give you another perspective to look at and maybe consider. Maybe one of your problems is the you are solely focused on getting more protein. maybe protein isn’t the answer. maybe you should try some other things. just take a step back and just get a wider outlook on your situation

I said: it tastes like pork... (which is actually correct...)
figure it out dude.
IMHO STFI made a good point why *not* to eat huan flesh...
but I don't see why a person would not do it when the situation calls for it...
