Rep Power: 153 | | | There's a lot of ways to make energy: Eat foods that "fuel" you up better, get lots of sleep, exercise correctly.
Chicken & rice is fine but it sounds like there's very little variation in your diet. Supplements/multivitamins help a little but they work best in combination with a proper, varied diet.
Add red meat to your diet 1 time per week (lean, good cuts -- no hamburger).
Eat beans! Not only are they good at propelling you around the room and driving away your friends (LOL) they are nutrient-rich, have lots of protein, have a ton of fiber, and go great with rice. I'm not a big fan of beans but they give me tons of energy. My faves are black beans w/raw onions sprinkled on top, and lima beans slow-cooked with ham hocks (so sweet they make you want to smack yo' mamma). The second dish is pretty high-fat but once in awhile that's OK.
Whole eggs won't kill you. Eat them boiled or poached at least 3 times a week. Most of the nutrients (including B vitamins, essential for energy) are contained in the yolk, if you throw that away you don't get s***.
Find a green vegetable that you like and eat it several times a week. There's a lot of folks who can't stand broccoli. So have spinach instead (raw in a salad, or saute it for a couple seconds with soy sauce), zucchini, or whatever.
Have some fruit every single day. It doesn't matter what kind (if you get really into a training diet, worry about it then, but for now, get into the habit).
And, get some other grains into that diet! Rice is nice but not every damn day. Have oatmeal for breakfast on days you don't eat eggs (go ahead & stir in honey or maple syrup & milk for now, later on try adding some fruits like raisins or berries). Make couscous as a side dish for your chicken. Try brown rice (loaded with niacin). Or, buy some whole-wheat pita bread & make chicken sandwiches.
To keep increasing energy -- exercise every day, even if a little bit (20 minutes). Then, get sleep! 8 hours every night.
If you do the stuff above and don't get an immediate improvement in energy, go see a doctor.

Rep Power: 160 | | | You need sleep. 12 hours a night for two weeks until you naturally cut back. It is physically impossible to sleep too much. Do you commute? That can be exhausting. Have you got adrenalin fatigue (do you live on coffee, for example). Chicken and rice is good but where's the veg with it? What kind of rice?
You also need to train. IMA is good, just going for a walk is good, yoga is good. If you don't have energy to do something try just lying down for five min on the floor, eyes closed, no music, no tv, just relax. If, after coming very slowly to sitting, and then standing, you are still too tired for a five min walk, you are ill.
Food for energy? My mate's a serious cyclist. He also holds down a seriously high pressure job. He lives on rice pudding, bananas, beer, stake, and energy drinks. I can't recomend it as a long term solution, but if you're burning the calories...

Rep Power: 11 | | Check out the Metabolic Typing Diet. I don't know if I buy into it 100%, but it's a good starting point. It will get you thinking about what food you want to/should/do eat, if nothing else. And it's cheap! And thick too!
If you already have really low energy, and don't know what to eat, this will at least give you options to pick from and try out. And if it doesn't work, well, you won't be any worse off than you are now.

Rep Power: 20 | | | Try to get a good mix of all of the food groups every day and work on getting sleep. It also helps to excersize. I know it should be that exercizing makes you loose engery and in the short term it does, but in the long run it actually gives you more. |

Rep Power: 0 | | You just need to learn how to eat properly. If you're feeling tired, maybe it's just lack of iron. So, whenever you eat red meat, try not to overcook it, it should be at least a *little* juicy. Also (and I know it sounds disgusting...) try to drink fresh orange juice with it. It is known that you absorve up to 10% more iron when taken with vitamin C.
The metabolic diet should help, too. We could sit here and give you tons of tips, but sometimes what works for someone doesn't work with everybody.
Just try to understand what your body needs. Pay attention to your metabolism, when you feel most tired, etc.
It takes time to learn how to eat properly. A nutricionist could help, too, because even if you are eating the right food, there's a pretty good chance that you're combining things that souldn't be eaten together and stuff like that.
But once you get used to all of this, you'll notice how your energy improves.
If nothing works, then go see a doc, you might have anemia or something like that.
Good luck

Rep Power: 7 | | Eating grains will certainly give you more energy but Brown Rice is better because it has not lost the natural vitamins and fibre.
Health foods taste boring to you probably because if you have been eating highly flavoured and spiced junk foods with tons of sugar and salt then your taste buds will have become desensitized to anything with more subtle flavours, this could take several weeks to correct if not longer.
Also your diet sounds very boring, learn to cook and take interest in what you are eating, this is very important to keep your body happy. The secret of making enjoyable food is in the flavouring, when you enjoy your food it makes it much easier to digest, also try and avoid watching TV or talking to people when you are eating. Variety is the spice of life, what about vegetables? These are much better sources of vitamins and minerals than supplements most of which pass straight through the system without doing anything, because they are made from chemicals the body cannot assimilate them. Organically grown and in season vagatables are best, plus a good mixture of roots in winter for energy and leafy vegetables in spring and summer.
If you have eaten junk foods your system may be blocked up with excess fats and chemical toxins so maybe that's why you feel weak, so a good toxin clearing diet is best, 3 days only whole grains is a good way of cleaning out the system but the grains will still give you energy which fasting cannot do, plus the fibre scours out your intestines at the same time.
Get down to the local health foods shop and have a good nose around plus maybe get a wholefoods cookbook for ideas. Find someone to help you and maybe go on a healthy diet at the same time so you can exchange ideas and support each other. Here is the diet we recommend in our T'ai Chi school, it is a Taoist diet called Chang Ming which means 'long life'.
Try and avoid too much fruits unless you are living in a hot climate because they are mostly acidic which can upset your body's natural balance, also avoid processed food and stuff with chemical additives, too much animal fats is also very bad and red meat too tends to produce a lot of toxins because it is very hard to digest. Rep Power: 69 | | Yeh, I've had some buds training for fights that started "eating healthy" but often healthy is decided in a word of mouth, pop culture kind of way.
TAKE SOME TIME AND INVEST IN RESEARCHING what is solid nutrition, there are LOTS of different ideas out there, so read up before you buy into one certain plan.
Rice and Chicken? Dude, add some fruit, veggies, nuts, tea, etc. Also, it takes time figure how to cook with veggies when you aren't used to it, but they can taste good. http://webcenter.health.webmd.netsca...-9531713CA348}
here's a decent little article to get you started.

Rep Power: 21 | | I'll go ahead and agree with what everyone else said. Spinach is good. Change up the meats, drink tea, add variety to your diet.
A little side note about healthy stuff not tasteing good. It doesn't taste good because you don't eat it. I use to have the same opinion as you. I decided to start eating better and after a week or two of eating good stuff I liked it. Now I can eat just about anything without any trouble and I prefer the healthy stuff. Whole grains are the bomb! | |
