Rep Power: 35 | | | NUTRITION!: Basics, Advanced, And everything inbetween. Ah yes, on request of chief, here is what hopefully will become the ULTIMATE in nutritional posts.
Instead of asking questions, (although thats cool too! Go ahead!) this post is more for the dishing out of all important nutritional information.
Its not for fad diets, its not for crazy miracle cures, its for what should be included in your healthy day to day diet and why. (if you take miracle cures or supplements day to day, explain the why, and why other foods cant supply what they do)
Feel free to include what you personally tend to eat day to day, whether healthy or otherwise (though preferably healthy).
Most importantly though, talk about NUTRITION!
Lets get the ball rolling!:
The most basic and easy to understand healthy eating guide i know of, is the food pyramid. Although n a slightly artsy and complex looking form, this is incredibly simple, and can provide you with an idea of what you should be eating day in day out. http://www.ion.ac.uk/mags/food_pyramid.pdf
Note: This is a PDF File. You need adobe acrobat reader to view it.
Keep this going folks. |

Rep Power: 41 | | Good idea, if you are struggling with recording your eating habits to try and determine how close you are the the "food pyramid", try setting up a free account at FitDay.com. Fitday allows you to track and record your nutrition intake and helps determine where you might be falling behind. www.fitday.com

Rep Power: 100 | | I use stuff from different diets as a base (in fact they're all more or less the same)...
for example: body for life, the abs diet and burn the fat feed the muscle
they're all about eating right....
getting everything your body needs in 5 or 6 portions a day
I never got the same results as promised on those websites tho
but then again...
I like to enjoy food and booze in the weekends and having kids and a job makes it kinda hard to follow any diet to the letter...
really...

Rep Power: 24 | | | Can someone make this a sticky? I can't really contribute to the thread at the moment, except if I want to make fun of Allan, but I think it's a great idea.

Rep Power: 35 | | | The basis for most diets (other then dangerous fads like the Atkins) are around the same, as long as you use them well, and train, you'll get awesome chief.

Rep Power: 35 | | | dont worry, we all cheat, just try and limit it to once a week if at all possible.
And hey, my arms may not be so great (i paid less attention to them then i should have) but the rest of me certainly isnt bad :P.
Best way of sticking to a diet, is sticking stuff on walls saying WHAT you gotta eat, not what not, just what you have to. (Including the calorie amount). The fact that its positive spurs you into doing it, and the fact that its written down makes it feel "official" and you dont want to disobey the paper! DO AS THE PAPER SAYS!
Give it a go man. |

Rep Power: 100 | | you count calories?
I'm way to lazy to do that
should give it a try tho...
burn the fat, feed the muscle is really into calculating everything...
you need to have some serious Excell skills to create your own diet...
don't like that
I like to pick out good ingredients and make good meals
and eat reasonable portions of that and enjoy it...
not check on my calculator how many calaries I get with every bite...

Rep Power: 35 | | | lol, its crazy easy to count calories "I need 2,500, therefore i dont eat stuffed crust pizzas, or pies stuffed with gravy".
And i like to do the same things do, you really dont need to be UBER strict with a diet, you just need the BASIS for it.
and dont be silly with the every bite, you dont need to count EVERY calorie, you round it up and down (not stupid amounts)
I have some basic excel skills, need a hand? | |
