| Oh it's probably violating a ton of codes, LOL. One of the drawbacks to renting in Boston, anything remotely affordable is going to be far from "modernized." I'm not sure but I think the state wrote some exceptions in their building codes for really old houses like this one (100+ yrs.). But they're not supposed to be permanent exceptions...
At any rate we're looking for something further out now. In a couple of years we'll probably give up on Mass. completely. It's the only state in the U.S. that loses more residents each year than it brings in.
