Rep Power: 8 | | Nuts are a great source of protein, as long as you're willing to work off the calories.

Nuts also have a positive affect on cholesterol.

Rep Power: 24 | | | If you eat dairy, try whey protein. Vegetable protein is hard to digest because the amino acids are combined in a way that they never would be in the human body, so you can't build them into your body. Think of it as a spare part for a car: If you get something for a Fiat, it's not gonna fit your hummer.
Supplementation is very important in my opinion, because it is hard to get enough protein if you don't eat meat. However, if you eat eggs and dairy, eat lots of it and you will be fine.

Non-fat Cottage Cheese is your savior. Look at the protein count next time you are in the grocery store.

Rep Power: 25 | | | As it's been descussed before, you're not going to find any propper protien in veggies. Not only are the amino acids not able to break down propperly, but from what i understand, non-animal protien doesn't even contain the full spectrum of amino acids found in animal protien. So hit the animal products... like Philip said, Whey Protien is probably the best... made from milk, but other than that, eggs, milk and cheese are your best bet....
And remeber that you should be getting .8-1.2 grams of protien per lb. of body wieght, per day just for general maintanance....if you want to build muscle, number 1) don't expect to get very far on a vegetarian diet, and 2) incease protien intake to about 1.5-2 gram/lb.....

Rep Power: 10 | | | MotjClan you should check the web for Mike Mahler sometime. He's a vegetarian who can pack on any mass he wants, naturally. It's all about how you work your body. |

Rep Power: 24 | | | Kinetsu: Any mass he wants was a joke, right? If you want to see mass, look at Ronnie Coleman, Lee Priest or even Matt Furey. Mahler is fit, but that's not mass.
Motj: You're way off on your maintenance levels. 0.6grams/kilogram of bodyweight suffice for maintenance in an athlete. For mass gain, 1 to 1.5 grams per kilogram of bodyweight suffice, unless you are really going for a bodybuilder physique at over 200lbs weight with height under six feet.

Rep Power: 37 | | Philip are we talking about protien intake ?
thats way too low... In some of the other threads I have given enough studies which shows athletes needs far more than 0.6 gm/killogram(heck I thought it was pound)...
Endurance trainees need more protien than they are told...
Motj, as far as your comment on not enough protien on veg... Jeez... man here in india most wrestlers who are follower of Lord hanuman are Veg... They don't touch any meat, egg, alcohol. and trust me matt furey, mike mahelr looks like kids in front of them...
You both need some re-education on terms of protein(whole diet and nutrition).. I suggest all of you guys to head to www.t-nation.com granted its for bodybuilders but there are lots of information on endurance and strength trainers like charles staley...

Rep Power: 25 | | | Hey I'm just going off of the information that I got from a Semi-pro body builder who also happens to be a doctor and writes for a body building magazine, what does he know!?

Rep Power: 10 | | | did I say anything about an UNNATURAL, overly anabolic, freakshow like those guys? No, I specifically remember saying natural. Lets ask them how many surgeries they've had to reduce/remove gyno tit. or how much HGH they take.. lol no we're talking about vegetarian diets. | |
