Rep Power: 36 | | | The Natto Starts Here... Greetings...
I have made it my mission to turn as many people on the DL as I can onto NATTO. The way I will do this is by posting recipes, that I have tried myself at home. Today, Natto Breakfast Tacos!
2 pkgs natto
4 egg whites or 1 cup Egg Beaters
1 avacado, cubed
salsa
4 whole wheat tortillas
(makes 4 tacos) - First, at low heat in a skillet, heat up 1 T of oil, (olive oil or canola), add your eggs. If you are using the egg whites, add 1 T water to the mix. (Note you can also use whole eggs, this is just my approach because I am trying to lose my spare tire.)
- Next, in a small sauce pan, add 1 teaspoon oil and heat your 2 pkgs of natto at medium heat for 2 minutes, being sure to add the soy sauce that came with the packages. The smell will go away as the natto is heated, trust me.
- Get your tortillas warm however you want 'em.
- Spread the natto, eggs, and avacado on the tortillas evenly, add some salsa, and get your grub on! You will thank me later. This meal is cheap, fast, and healthy, so don't be scared. More to come if ya want 'em!
-Wu

Rep Power: 153 | | I finally saw what natto was, on Iron Chef. Now I can't think about it without going
But if I am ever stuck in the house during a blizzard with nothing but natto, I'll visit here first for recipes.

Sammy...you wound me to the quick. If you try this one recipe, I will gaurantee you it won't kill you. And, it will give you a kick of energy, plus, it is super healthy for you, full of protein and B12, and good bacteria. The cooking process in this recipe eliminates the funky smell, I promise. Besides, everything is good with some eggs and salsa thrown on it...even corned beef.

Rep Power: 12 | | | I've heard lots about Natto and always wanted to try it. I have never seen it anywhere though. Anyone else from the UK know how to get hold of it?

I am perfecting the recipe tonight. I plan on it hitting the grill tomorrow, and I will put up a pic, perhaps. We will see how many recipes I can come up with. I will check the web, too. I am sure there are those out there as weird as I that have given it a try, too. Oh, and no, I never, ever give up.

Hey, Fuzzy:
Is there any Asian food markets near you? I buy mine at a Korean Food store here in Austin. They have alot of Japanese food, as well. The Japanese food store here is pretty expensive, so I don't go there. It costs about $2.40 cents per 3 pkgs here. I will look around and see what I can find for you. I am sure one of the bigger cities near you, (don't know where you're at), will have a store that may carry the stuff. I'll holler.
