| The main concern about soy products is that, unless it is certified organic (and even then), one doesn't know where the product was grown, what fertilizers and pesticides were used on it, how it was shipped, how it was processed, etc.
Since certain fertilizers and pesticides are believed to cause cancers and infertility, telling women to eat lots of a product topped with god-knows-what is somewhat worrisome.
If you're concerned, purchase organic soy products. But I second what Unk says. Eat a balanced diet, protein, veggies & carbs. Don't rely on one type of protein to meet your needs -- mix it up a little. Reduce your red meat intake (westerners eat far too much in general). Eat soy, fish (especially deep-water fish like tuna or mackerel), beans of all kinds, and chicken.
And if you're really worried, just remember the comforting words of Joe Jackson: "Everything gives you cancer."
