Rep Power: 220 | | It stimulates and oxygenates the blood, it's an anti-oxidant, it's good for the heart. PlumDragon wrote something on it that might be of interest.

Rep Power: 100 | | | It aslo calms its good to drink before going to bed, it sppeds up the healing process when you are sick and is a digestive aid. You really have to know the quality of the root and where it came from there is a lot of poor quality ginsing on the market

Rep Power: 100 | | | Most of what is on the market comes from Korea not China, The real Chinese is hard to get. It comes in different grades of quality, as well as in different forms. A pure root is the best way to get it and make your own teas and medicine tinctures from that. To know the difference is an art in itself and can take years of study.
If you contact Plumbdragon maybe he can help you he is into herbs and may have some links

Rep Power: 62 | | | Ginseng is the KING of tonic herbs. It is used for any type of deficiency, but commonly used for weakness, low energy levels, strengthening the heart, etc. Its very nutritious. While it can be used "in the bed room" as you put, thats not really why peoepl use it. If you want herbs for use int he bedroom, try out some of the kidney yang tonics.
With that said, if you are under about 35 years old you do NOT need to be using ginseng by itself.
Codonoptis (Dang Shen) is a more mild substitute to ginseng and is not as expensive but has great tonifying properties as well.
Supreme Drunkard, I sell Codonoptis ($3/ounce), as well as ginseng starting around $70/lbs and going all the way up to over $1300/lbs for the ultimate "good stuff". If you are looking to purchase, PM me.

Rep Power: 62 | | | There is Korean, Chinese, and American Ginseng. It comes Red (steamed), White (not steamed). Red Ginseng is more tonifying.
- Red (steamed) Korean Ginseng is the most prized and the Heaven variety gets the highest dollar.
- Chinese Ginseng is available in a couple varieties such as Jilin (Kirin) and Gaogouli. Jilin has a range of prices while I sell a pound of Gaogouli for $450.
- American Ginseng is available too, its awesome stuff. Cooler than the other ginsengs and is used more for supplementing qi, generating fluids, nourishing the yin, etc. You can get a pound of whole roots for as little $75 if you knwo where to look... =)
There is also wild-crafted ginseng which has higher price tags than the cultivated varieties.
And as I had mentioned earlier, if you are interested in ginseng, you might consider using Codonoptis instead...Its cheaper and more suitable for someone of your age. |

Rep Power: 100 | | | I use to sell heaven Ginseng in the early late 70's early 80's but the price was much lower then about $100 Lb for quality roots. I used red almost all the time and only used whit in tea. I use to see a lot of different mixes as well including the common mix with foy ti.
I used it with a mixture of several other herbs based on formulas that I got from several families. Some of the mixes were ferminted in the ground for months like jow others used live cultures. I used them for health and to enhance my Kung-fu training.
Ginseng by itself or with green tea will give you a lot of bennifits but it is a higher priced way to go. Plumbdragon is someone you can buy from but most of what is around is not the quality they say it is and is massed produced and reading the package won't help because its not regulated.

Rep Power: 7 | | | I have always found it interesting that we Americans favor the Chinese ginseng, while the Chinese pay higher prices for American ginseng, believing it to be better.
I second the motion on Codonoptsis. This is a good herb. A very good combination with other herbs is: Ho-Shu-Wu (also known as Fo-Ti), morinda, and euccomia bark. Good for training.
Funny story; I was in an herb shop in Philadelphia's Chinatown once and they were making up a prescription for a guy. They put the eucommia bark on the pile of herbs and the guy says "good, good. That snakeskin makes is strong". the herb seller looked at me with pleading in his eyes to keep my mouth shut. I turned away and tried really hard not to laugh. | |
