Rep Power: 86 | | | Glucosamine Chondroitin I just started taking this supplement about a week ago. I have heard it is really good for joint health. I have been thinking about it for a couple of years, but with my injury problems recently, my chiropractor highly recommended I should give it a try.
Any one out there have any experience with taking it? Has it worked for them? How long till you could feel a difference?
I know this may sound silly to you, but I know several people who have given it to their dog's and have had really awesome results. Anyone else give it to their dogs, even if they are not taking it themselves?
I am taking the Trader Joe's brand that is time released.

You will most likely need to take it religiously for 3-4 weeks before you start to notice a difference.
Are you taking the type with MSM in it?
Think of it as joint "lube", it's like getting all your joints well oiled.
I'm sure you'll appreciate it after a month of so, I know I do.

Rep Power: 41 | | | I take it pretty rigorously with my knee injury and the fact the army loves to run for very long distances on pavement. I personally noticed a slight difference in about 4 weeks and a remarkable difference in about 6 weeks. I cant remember the brand I take but it has 1500mg of Glucosimine, 1200 MSM and like 900mg of something else. You might want to try the fish oil supplement too which is also supposed to be good for your joints. I take 1000mg of fish oil gel caps a day as well. |

Rep Power: 41 | | | Oh you may want to talk to Sammiegirl she also had a knee injury while she was in the army (if I remember correctly) and may have some good advice. |

Rep Power: 160 | | | It's good stuff. Took about a month to kick in for me. There are studies published if you dig about.
Personally I've always found training correctly fixed stuff faster than anything else (even if "faster" proves to be years for some things). Clugosamine and Chrondatrin definitely help though

It's a lot cheaper at the vet. No fancy packaging and trade names.

Yeah, I had a lot of impact-based pain which came from cumulative results of running on pavement, running with heavy video equipment, etc., and also due to poor alignment from a slipped disc (caused by ... running with heavy video equipment, mostly). A combination of things -- chiropractic, acupuncture & tai chi -- really dramatically improved my condition. So I haven't felt the need to take joint supplements yet although that may change in the future.
Honeybunny tried glucosamine (liquid form, from Trader Joe's) but he didn't stick with it and didn't take it daily, so he didn't feel any results. He may try it again, though, as his joints are getting creakier.

odd that they mention this.
glucosamine, chondroiton, etc takes weeks to kick in.
they do not work like aspirin (altho some joint supps include white willow bark) in that u feel effects same day.
that being said, i have been using joint supps for years.
some injuries include old age, repaired acl, dislocated fingers, hyperextensions, and currently a broken hand.
the best joint supplements in my exp are: - elastamine- primaforce
- super cissus rx- usplabs
- cissus- primaforce
- flex- omega sports
- orange triad- controlled labs
