Rep Power: 149 | | | my good lady uses such suppliments
and her arthritic knee is incredibly better
it is one of the basic building blocks of cartilige
and also one of the bodies natural lubricants in the big joints
the jury is still out reguarding injections in to the joint though
really that kind of thing should be a last resort IMO
have you tried chondrotin?

Rep Power: 0 | | | I just ordered up some hyaluronic acid. Once I get it I'll let every one know if it works after a week. Then I'll update at a month. My main symptom is my wrists from lifting weights. My knees sometimes bug me after a mile run also. I have tried glucosamine and msm with no real results. Thanks for the info Wingnut |

and do look up chondrotin if you havent already
this is the stuff that gets worn away between the bone surfaces
leadin to bone on bone contact
which is the usual cause of discomfort

Rep Power: 0 | | Here is my report back from using hyaluronic acid.... . My wrist pain is gone and they don't make any grinding noises when I rotate them anymore. My finger joints seem to heal over the weekend, where as before they would continue hurting non-stop. I am happy with it and it doesn't have that month long waiting time like glucosamine to kick in. And I'm pretty sure it's not all in my head. I haven't changed anything and I have still been lifting heavy weights. Good stuff! |

Rep Power: 0 | | | exactly the science behind this btw? Just make stronger tendons? or like..stronger joint mucels? And is this like...a long term good effect or will they come back after I stop taking them? |

Rep Power: 149 | | | hyaluronan (aka hyaluronic acid) is the stuff found on the outside
of cartilage cells in the joints
also found in the skin and other places
it helps the cartilage hold onto water
and thus make it less compressable
think shock absorber
what was happening to dingo was that the cartilage wasnt hydrating properly
so bones were rubbing against a hard surface
and that is something bones do not like to do
hence the pain

Rep Power: 0 | | | It took approximately 2 weeks to kick in. I talked to a employee at the health food store and everyone that he has talked to about it has nothing but good to say. |

Rep Power: 86 | | | Is it safe to take this stuff while taking glucosomine chondroitin? Or do you have to pick one or the other?

Rep Power: 0 | | | Not to sure whether there is any effects from taking the two together. Probably not but I'd investigate anyway. Also I forgot to say, I'm taking 50mg in the morning and 50mg at night. |

Rep Power: 149 | | | aard : "Is it safe to take this stuff while taking glucosomine chondroitin?"
glucosamine is one of the constituent parts of hyaluronic acid and chondroitin
so it would probably be overkill taking all three
cloud : "i wonder why the dr. didn't recommend this stuff"
if you live in the US
then such suppliments are not approved by the FDA as medicines
but can be sold as dietry suppliments
whereas in europe they are considered medicines
