Rep Power: 49 | | | I made the best fried chicken with country milk gravy last night and some homemade corn bread. Oh it was so good. I seasoned the bread crumbs and corn meal for the chicken with a little cayenne pepper to give it a touch of heat, salt and regular pepper and a little dash of cummin and a little dash of italian seasoning. Then I soaked the chicken in butter milk and then dredged the chicken in the breadcrumbs and corn meal mix and then fried the chicken. It was delicious. After the chicken was done i scraped all the crispies out of the bottom of the skillet and put a tablespoon of flour in it and browned it then slowly added some milk to make a milk gravy. and added some pepper and a little bit of salt. Boy that gravy was good. I had some collard greens and mac n' cheese to go with it.

Indeed it does
I haven't tried the butter milk soaked chicken yet, though I've been hearing lots of great stuff about doing it that way, and what you and Wu have been saying, I'll have to give it a try soon |

Rep Power: 36 | | | Yeah, them yum-yums, (or "fond" if you're French), are awesome for making gravy. After I deep fat fry that chicken, I put em in a roasting pan and into a super hot oven, which pulls more of that grease out of em. I then use the pan to make my gravy, I start it with a little chicken stock, though, then flour and then milk or heavy cream. MMM--MMM! This talk of English food makes me wanna fry up a mess of fish and chips, though...followed by a bowl of Kate Beckinsale, we shan't forget that!

Rep Power: 220 | | | One of my favorite rare treats is a Cajun seasoned Turkey slow smoked over hickory for hours then stuffed with an Andouille/Chorizo sausage blend, red/green peppers, onion, garlic and corn bread.
Then I wrap the whole thing in thick cut pepper bacon and grill to finish it off and blend the flavors and get the bacon smokey and crispy |

Damn...that sounds pretty damned good, I gotta say. Man alive, we definitely need to have a DL get-together. Friggin pot luck, I say.
