pre workout meal

OK this is a little bit different from the post workout meal thread. I want to know, whats your favorite meal is before you fight or compete (if you eat anything at all). Also, how long before you fight or compete do you eat?

For me I haven't really had one particular thing that I ate before competition. I only did tournament competition (point sparring & forms) and never had a problem with having to make weight like MMAtists have when they fight. When I would compete in sparring I would eat a normal breakfast around 8 a.m. sign in at the tournaments was at 8:30 a.m. and then competitors would wait till there division was called. Usually my division for forms would be called around maybe 9:30 or 10 a.m then my sparring division would be called around maybe 2:30 p.m.. Eating was never a real problem. I would go after my forms division or around noon and grab something to eat at the tournament (usually a sandwhich of some type). After the tournament it was always a tradition for my sifu and all the students who competed to go get Chinese food somewhere.

I usually start off with oatmeal, lotsa carbs for energy.

And if things run later on, tuna something or whatever pops up that looks good.

Stuff with lots of protein and carbs.
Drink something like a gatorade or something to keep good overall hydration.

I usually stay with liquids. I'll drink fruit smoothies for energy, but I'll get sick if I eat much before a hard workout.
