Rep Power: 49 | | I love squid but only if its fried. If it's over cooked it can be chewy. To me fried squid (calamari) tastes like fried clams. I love to dip the calamari in horseradish sauce. Yummy!!!! And a cold beer to wash it down.

Chewy!
If made right, only a little bit chewy. It helps to go to a restaurant that makes the more unusual seafood -- squid, octopus, mussels, etc. if you've never had these before, so you know how it should taste.
Squid also has different textures for different parts -- the smooth body part is fairly chewy while the tentacles are not so much, and when fried right they're nice and crunchy.
I also like the fried spicy baby octopi at dim sum, you pop the whole octopus in your mouth. There's also deep-fried eel spawn, which kinda look like french fries, though it took me awhile to get past the little tiny beady eyes.

Ditto... but not bad for a snack if fishing doesn't pay off with a light beer batter deep fried with marinara for dipping

Honey walnut shrimp.
Salt, pepper, garlic lobster.
Ham ha pork and watercress.
At the Vietnamese end i go for the spicy beef noodle or summer rolls, or both...
...and this is the best way to eat octopus!
Octopus is very tender, if you lomi (massage) it first in a bucket with rock salt and a little water, changing water and adding salt frequently.
Rinse clean when mucus has broken down and make some of that stuff...

well...
it goes as far that American "Chinese Food" differs a lot from European "Chinese Food"....
even Dutch "Chinese Food" is different from German "Chinese Food"
I had a local Chinese restaurant owner prepare a special wedding dinner when I got married for us and our parents
it was a "traditional dish" (or so he said )
it was nothing he had on the card, it all looked beautiful and tasted delicious
and really...
I don't care if it was made cats, dogs, snakes and rats
it was yummie as hell....

Get a sense of humor and lighten up is all I can say. You seem so uptight that if you stuck a lump of coal up your a$$ it would probably turn into a diamond. And if there is an ethnic Chinese that took offense then he/she needs to get a sense of humor as well. As for being grammer schoolish in word play.....so what.
