Vegetarian Diet and Chinese medicine

I have heard that is hard for vegetarians to use Chinese medicine to treat injuries, because you need to eat meat to treat muscle ailments (eat what you treat). Does anyone have any greater knowledge on this subject that could guide me how to help recover using these techniques without eating meat?

It would seem from a Nutritional stand point that as long as you get the proper vitamins/nutrients/protein that is in in meat, through other non-meat sources, you should be ok.

try brewer's yeast, which gets filtered out of beer these days so it is dirt cheap and has proteins and vitamin b. i'm not a veggie though but it is the only "supplement" i use
