Rep Power: 0 | | | Mmmm...I love doing that. You can also put chicken, 1 part italian dressing, and 3 or 4 parts water in a crock pot and let it cook on low while you're at work. Then all you have to do is microwave a veggie when you get home. |

Rep Power: 39 | | | You could always make meatloaf with a small difference. Instead of cooking it in the loaf pan just us the loaf pan as a rack. Flip the loaf pan onto the rack so the meat loaf onto a rack and cook. If your meat loaf isnt too moist it should keep shape and the fats (some at least) will drip out onto your drip pan beneath....DONT FORGET THE DRIP PAN!!!
Its not super healthy but is a better way to make it then letting it cook in its own fats. |

I am really not much of a chef as I haven't had much experience with cooking, but I can follow a recipe! (i just learned how to make mashed potatoes last month) I just don't have the knowledge.
I have a child who is a really good eater, and a boyfriend who is not. He wants to start eating veggies but he mostly eats chicken or steak with the closest thing to veggies being french fries.
He really likes meat and I really like simple ingredients and not too long to make foods, that are tasty. We aren't able to keep a lot of stuff fresh in the house unless its frozen, we just don't cook much aside from meat (from frozen) and fries.
We need to start saving money and eating out less so I need to start cooking at home but I really have no knowledge of what/how to cook.
So I guess all I'm asking is if you could give some simple recipes for yummy healthy meals! | ” | |
How about a brisket it's really easy to prep and you just pop it in the oven one pan. (Start it an hour or two before dinner.)
Okay you buy a brisket and potatoes
Put the brisket in a deep pan like a cake pan 2"tall.
put the brisket in the pan rub in a dash of salt&pepper then pour 1/4cup of wine over it. Then sprinkle some brown sugar on top about 1/4 a cup. Squirt a little lemon in to the brown sugar ten pour Veggie broth over the brisket this the side of the pan are an inch high with liquid.
Cut up potatoes in dices and fill in the side on the pan. add half a cup of chopped onions and sprinkle on the top .
Cook at Broil broil for 1hr 30 min-45 min. While it cooks make sure that it has some liquid in the pan to keep the meet nice and tender.
Then slice and eat.
goes good with some corn. make the corn before five minutes before the brisket finishes.
(Corn boil for 8 minutes drain add a tablespoon of margarine)
Then Enjoy a delicious meal even the most pickiest eaters enjoy. My brother is the same way with veggies.

Rep Power: 47 | | | Cook stuff like Chili or soups and cook in large quantities. Soups and chili keeps for a long time in the fridge and doesn't require a whole lot of meat. You can make a big pot of chili with just a pound to a pound and a half of ground lean meat, a lot of chili powder, garlic powder, cumin, one diced onion, one diced green pepper, one big can of tomato sauce and one big can of diced tomatoes and one cup of water. Easy to make. You can even add elbow macaroni (for filler) in it to make a chili mac. Add tabasco sauce to taste. I even sometimes add a dark beer to it if it needs to be thinned out some. Use a beer like Amberbach
Also spaghetti is cheap and easy to make. Buy can spaghetti sauce and spice it up by adding ground beef or sausage in it. Add garlic powder and italian seasoning.

Rep Power: 54 | | Invest in good basic cookware, knives etc. and learn how to use and care for them.
"Crockpots" and pressure cookers are great too.
Pasta is cheap, easy and can be made in millions of ways. From savory meat based lasagna to light vegetable pasta salads, you can stretch your budget and eat well too.
Learn about what foods are truly packed with nutrition, you probably already like some of them, just eat more.

Sweet potato? Eat 'em up. Heck sweet potato fries are better than the plain ones.
Baby steps.

Rep Power: 0 | | | I like to bake sweet potato fries with jerk seasoning on them and use ranch dressing as dip. Just be sure to put some olive oil (or other good oil) on the potato before you add the seasoning. |

Rep Power: 47 | | | Rice is good too. Steam some rice and then fry it. It's easy. And it doesn't take much meat to make a beef or pork fried rice. Dice some meat into small bite size pieces and fry it in wok or skillet. Remove from skillet after cooking. Now put in about 3 to 4 tablespoons of oil. Any oil. Let it get real hot. Now throw in the rice and any veggies you want in it such as diced carrots, peas, bean sprouts, etc... and then a few dashes of soy sauce, garklic powder, and a little salt. Stir it all together till the rice is a brownish color from the soy. Pack the rice down tight and let sit for a minute or 2. Then stir the rice and pack it down tight again for a few minutes more. Finally add in the cooked meat to reheat through. Stir it all together to mix and then transfer it to a big bowl.
I like to add curry powder to spice it up a little and sometimes some cayenne pepper.
