Rep Power: 41 | | | Come on guys. Let's here some more of your own recipes. Thanks for the links, I will most likely use stuff from them, but I would rather hear about stuff people made up themselves.
I have this whenever I can afford the Trout I like. Was seriously good and was super easy to prepare.
ingredients:
good quality Smoked Trout
your choice of Cracker or cracker/Bread. Preferably something crunchy.
Cream Cheese
Avocado
Lemon Juice
Salt
Take the Cream Cheese and spread on some Cracker Bread. Add one or 2 thin slices of Smoked Trout on top covering the cheese. Cut thin slices of Avocado and add one piece on top of the Trout. Add a few drops of Lemon Juice and a pinch of Salt on the avocado. That's it. Eat it. mmmmmm.

It's a food fact that rout is a cheap and not a high quality compared to other fish such as Alaskan Salmon, Halibut, and ae-ai Tuna (sp).
Trout is in the canned tuna category with cod and cat fish.

Rep Power: 153 | | | Maybe "rout" is, but not "trout."
I've never, ever seen canned trout.
It's not ae-eieeiyea Tuna, it's Ahi Tuna, and lemme tell ya, in the U.S. you're not getting top-shelf Ahi at most sushi places.
Most red salmon is farmed, so you're not getting top-quality salmon.
Cod is very expensive -- it was always good quality fish, just has been fished out. The alternative is haddock which isn't as good.
You've clearly never had fresh-caught trout. Or fresh catfish.

False I live in Washington. Salmon is caught at the coast of Washington and Alaska which is not to far.
I know my fish, because I love fish, except gefilte fish.

Black cod and trout are great, have not had much catfish and haddock is as described above.
Ahi, is the word for fire because they would pull lines over the edge of the boat so fast they would burn the wood.
Unusual fish, nearly warm-blooded. Strongest fish in the ocean, a 200lb ahi will fight harder than a marlin twice the size. While the marlin jumps around and pretty much exhausts itself, the ahi swims straight for the bottom. Getting them aboard fast is crucial, as the flesh will burn/melt if you fight 'em for too long, making them worthless for sashimi. When it can cost over $5000 to fill up a 40ft fishing-boat with diesel, every one counts.
...oh yeah a recipe!
Slice the ahi (or king salmon works well for this too) very thin across the grain say 1.5" x 3' x 1/4" pieces.
Serve chilled and raw with soy sauce, wasabi and daikon shreds.
looks like this...
or this for the salmon..

Rep Power: 97 | | | You know what, there is nothing like home made chicken noodle soup.
Get a 3 plus pound bird and boil it for about 45 min. You can either cut it up or boil it whole. The more water you use the more soup you have....
Dice up:
Onions
Carrots
Celery
Green Onions
Potatos
How much you dice depend on how much you want.
When the chicken is done, then debone it.
Be sure to clean the gunk from the rim of the pot.
Add salt, pepper and chicken bullion cubes (4-7) All to taste.
Stir in a packet of lipton Dry chicken noodle soup mix or Broth (Dry soup is better) into the water you boiled the chicken in.
Now add in everything except the potatos. Cook for about 15 min. and add the potatos, cook 15-20 more min.
When you add the potatos boil a pot of egg noodles.
When everything is cooked, just finish seasoning to taste and put the egg noodles in your bowl and pour your soup on top. Eat.
We dont mix the egg noodle with the soup other wise it would soke up a bunch ot juice and get soggy egg noodles... |
