Rep Power: 11 | | | hsing-i five elements and/or 12 animals clips. Im trying to learn these from a book and it would really help if i can see the full motion so i can judge the speed of the form and all that good stuff. if anyone has any links or clips or advice i would appreciate it very much. thanks. |

=) just relax a bit....its just a forum. Sometimes between the bs you get valuable info.
Maybe if you wouldv'e had a little patience you would have not been banned.

Rep Power: 0 | | | I have been learning Hsing-I for a year now.I have a teacher,so this does and does,nt apply to your question.I also have purchased a few books.I always like to have a manual to read on my style. Now I have never attempted to learn ahead of what I am being taught but,I do like to take a preview and see what to expect.
I can say that there is no substutute for learning from a teacher.I would not try to get the actual material from a book in any ma exspecially Hsing-I,Bagua or Tai Chi.Theres is just too much going on in these movements that a picture cannot reveal(open/close,rise fall, turning the waist, body alignment, etc).I am sure theres people out there that may be able to pick up a new style from a book but,I would bet they would have to have, previous exp on the basics of internal martial arts basics/mechanix.Try and find a teacher, even if its a once or twice a month meeting. This way you can get corrected and establish your foundation.Just my 2 cents. |

Rep Power: 62 | | aFelipse has great form. You an also find some other xing yi forms on PutFile. Lots of the EF emmbers post their files there. There are a couple of pi chuans, which should be a bit easier to get good info from if learning from a book.
silksword, I was also banned from EF. A mod named Asura basicly banned a bunch of people for the hell of it. When David found out I was one of them, he realzied it was a mistake and said I was welcome there and said he would unban me. Unfortuantely, I suppose he is too lazy to actually lift my ban lol. EF is a good site, but I wouldnt worry about the ban. ALl the basic info you would need is available on the main site itself, which you should have access to; its only the forum you cant get to.
Also, if youre looking for video clips, look no further than this website my friend. The Virtual Kwoon here at the Dragons List has numerous xing yi forms performed for your viewing pleasure. This guys style varies from what Ive learned, but its better than some of the xing yi Ive seen...Enjoy: http://www.dragonslist.com/discussio...splay.php?f=80 |

Alan, that's a good pao chui set on the video and very much a standardized, beginning performance. But if you try it with the *Fire* element idea in mind and then after the initial strike, return both the upper fist and the lower fist with fierce back-knuckle strikes, you will see what pao chui is all about -- like a roaring fire. | |
