well try to look at why you were so meek and timid, was it beacuse you didnt know how to fight? and now that youre learning you have developed a somewhat ****y attitude? well that is natural, but you should always stay humble, it adds character.

also, are you under stress? practice feeling comfortable in the moment you are in, and, meditate. you can smile inwardly to yourself while meditating and relaxing, i like to do this during sitting meditation or standing pole,(zhan zhuang)

relax.

Just a quick thought. I had the same of the same experiences, as have others I know. Xingyi is designed for this, it is a style of total destruction. Li Cunyi said,"If you want mercy, best not raise your hands." I did santi and piquan for a year before learning anything else and in the beginning it made me pretty uncaring about anyone else (much to my wifes dismay). But it went away after awhile. I can get it back in an instant however.

I think you 2 are really talking about the same thing in the end. Blaming your qi is blaming yourself. Its 2 different ways to say the same thing really. Whats important and relevant IMO, is doing something to fix it.
A couple quick ideas:
- How do you visualize your qi flowing? I used to visualize it as fire which I was later taught is a bad thing.
- How often to you have orgasms? Perhaps have them mroe often as a means fo regulation...what a great prescription that is! =)
- Like other said, examine your newfound behavior...Do some introspection: Is there somethign happening in yoru life that you may have glossed over that might be the cause of a short fuse? Is it possibly not even MA related? Extra stress brought on by something?

Not logical. You dont prove things "dont exist". You prove that they do because there is no reason to consider that somethign exists until we know it does. With that said, qi is more of a series of intricate observations that we attach a word to. Its there, no doubt about that. Its just largely misunderstood, in context, and in definition.

No offense, but I've been doing Xingyi since you were about seven. I learned this way from Kumar Frantzis. There is no blame involved and certianly not on qi.

"A couple quick ideas:

No need to visualize anything. Stand in santi, breathe properly, and gaze into the distance. This will create a certain mindset that Xingyi is known for. One I am quite comfirtable with, under the right circunstances.

"How often to you have orgasms? Perhaps have them mroe often as a means fo regulation...what a great prescription that is! =)"

Forgive me if I don't touch this one.

Like I said, the mindset that xingyi develops is for killing the person in front of you. Not appropriate when your Uncle Joe is being an asshole but quite useful in the right circumstance. "Xingyi fights like your clothes are on fire."

None taken (youll find that I am pretty much "unoffendable" ). Although my post wasnt addressing anything that you have said; I was referring an earlier part of the thread, and I still believe that the 2 people arguing were really referring to the same thing.

Forgive me if I don't touch this one.

Some believe its quite a viable truth as far as qi depletion is concerned. While I dont necessarily subscribe to taht mindset, that wont change what others believe, and so it is a decent suggestion to offer as help.

sliksword : "dont do drugs"........oh ok..............

li : who cares if you dont beleive in qi.............its your loss...........

as for the question................when undertaking any kind of deep training you are going to be confromted with parts of you character you do not like.........how you deal with this is the lesson...............you seem to be exhibiting classic anxiety symptoms, maybe your new found power is subconciously scaring the usual timid self.........................

I've had the same experiance you're having. I'm of the opinion that internal arts(I can't speak for external because I don't do them) balance people out. Most people are to aggressive and macho these people become more clam. When people that are too timid do it it makes them more aggressive. I don't think its anything to worry about. I've become much more aggressive since I started Tai chi. Just keep training. It will peak and get to a comfortable level. It just takes time. I would suggest doing some sparing. This new aggression can lead to feeling more powerful than you really are and its important to know what your limitations are. It will keep you in check. Hope that helps.
