Forget banning, a suggestion like that is cause for tarring and feathering!

what you call a 'bs story about wah lum' the former grandmaster, chan pui thought was pretty darn accurate: so much so he sent a letter (picture of your famed monstrosity included) to most of his loyal students telling them that thier rival style knows more than his own students and for them to clear out of whatever venue they see him in.
in the listing of the martial arts of the world http://www.maotw.com the listing for wah lum does not include it's founder or the primary advocate of this style. chan pui is listed under the rival's style's teachers: a credit to the respect the rival student shows to his adversaries. something which left an indelible impression on your sifu. |

Are you referring to the Werewolf/Wookiee Man who is listed in the Shaolin-Do lineage?
Because that's Shaolin-Do. Are you confusing Wah Lum with Shaolin-Do?
"the former grandmaster, chan pui" is the CURRENT grandmaster of Wah Lum. Try this link, honey: www.wahlum.com
Also, please tell us how many times your mother dropped you on your head as a baby. We're dying to know.

Well officially, Sigung is semi-retired -- mostly teaches private lessons and the occasional group seminar -- but he is still at the WL temple every day even if he's just hanging out & cooking lunch.
I studied at Wah Lum Temple for about 4 years (2 yrs. tai chi, then 2 yrs. wah lum) under Sifu Mimi Chan before relocating to Boston.
Sigung always says "never again" right after bringing a group back from a China trip. But every other year or so, he arranges another trip! I do know that they're not going to China this year. But haven't heard anything about next year (I hope another trip is scheduled because I haven't had the funds to go on the other ones). I'll PM you if I hear anything.

When I was younger... I studied a mantis fist style... can't remember how, but we were told that Sifu Chan Pui led 17 day "pilgrimages" to the temples in china... I got invited to go, unfortunately I was only 17 at the time and could not come up with 3,000 cash to go... it is an opportunity that I have regretted missing for as long as I can remember... now that I am a little older, and have a visa card ... I would love for that opp to come up again!

Rep Power: 149 | | | Yep, it's a great experience -- from what I've heard, the fact that Sigung knows so many people in Hong Kong & the mainland means that every tour there is the opportunity to meet or train with quite a few masters. Plus the last few trips have been scheduled to coincide with national tournaments so students can compete.

Love it. Either a complete beginner (which after 18 years would be interesting) or just trying to give us all a laugh
We should encourage comedy like this, don't you think
