Rep Power: 150 | | | You're not gonna like this but ... it just looks like the attacker is pulling his punches. Then again, the video was really bogging down on me so... I dunno.

Rep Power: 150 | | | OTOH,the defender's demonstration of how he roots to defend against strikes is consistent. He does look like has good balance & structure etc. But his motions had a slightly exaggerated look. Granted this was for demo for large crowds, and on stage one needs to exaggerate to get a point across.
Done in a fighting situation, or even a full-contact demo, the defender's motions would probably be much smaller and faster and the attacker likely wouldn't fall over unless his balance was already disturbed by something else, like tripping over a rock or starting his attack off-balance.
So I wouldn't say this is ineffective, it's just -- demo mode. Exaggerated to make a point about the principle he's trying to illustrate.

Rep Power: 100 | | | What the defender does "wrong" would be the plain trick to know the timing of the punch and RISE on the punch to reduce the impact. The normal iron body effect is that you do not move at all, other than very, very slightly, to take the impact at a defined angle necessary to root it. Look at Mike Pattersons iron body demos, he TAKES the blow, and doesn't move away from it or into the punch, changing the distance. Of course, you can try to get the timing on any normal punch too, but this does not really have much to do with iron or not. Iron skills are fajinging on contact, that means, the body reacts to ANY impact ANY time using emitting jin (i.e. a gross, sudden, extreme contraction of muscles and slight moving against the impact), not a gross movement to nullify the impact, or "counter" strike. This is another option, it has LARGE impact if you additionally have jin movements, since it feels as if punching a moving wall. Mike Pattersons seniors with his master Hsu have broken peoples wrists when they punched them, with such movements. So it's not about "toppling", it's about breaking someones arm or wrist.

Rep Power: 100 | | | The attacker definetly does not strike too strongly, and does anything to make the old guy look good. However, the old man STILL does not move though pushed hard with the double hands push. If you do that to your normal grandpa, he would fall over.
And I think it's Xinyi Liuhe, not Xing Yi.

Rep Power: 100 | | | The main point is so you can concentrate on protecting the head, and just take hits to the body. Usually you are not going to allow someone hitting the head. But you cannot keep someone for example using a pole from hitting your body. If you look at Abraham-Miranda, Abraham did not give away more than a handful hits to the head in 12 rounds, while then taking many shots to the body. This is what that is useful for.

there is another side tot he Mike P's demo with the sledgehammer.
Good dit bo sam is done blind folded. If any of you guys have the time to drop by, I will intro you to my old teacher - he gets a kick out of having people punch and kick him in his belly or try to choke him out.
Yes the belly can be like rock but it's really training with chi - literally - pumped up like a tire. If you don't do it right, the chi rise to head and you will pass out.
IMO - not too healthy.
If he likes you - He will let you punch him and laugh. If you an ass - he might let you punch him three times and he will ask for one in return. Hopefully your wrist id still intact.
