Yes they are the same thing im just wondering how they got divided and why
personally i use XingYiQuan but thats becuase thats what tought at my school

one is the pinyin style of translating the Chinese language into a latin based spelling system. The other style is more phonetic system.

Xing-yi is the pinyin, which is the Chinese developed romanization of the characters; that is replacing/phasing out of the Wade-Giles phonetically based system. Xing-yi= pinyin, Hsing-i=Wade-Giles. Bagua Zhang=pinyin, Pakua Chang=Wade-Giles.
