It's nice to see somebody give a clear, non mystical systematic explanation of Fajing. Some of the exercises, drills are the exact same ones that I do. |

Rep Power: 78 | | | they are all in CLF even the stepping on the gung bu to test the strenght - old school - shweeet.
The stance is strange in that knee is way over the toes. Sacreficing speed for root or stability unless that's just for beginners and stance gets narrower but the thing over the toes...

Rep Power: 100 | | | The knees naturally have to go over the toes if you are going too deep. The question is if you really need that. I think it does not hurt once you allow for first strengthening, THEN going low. Meaning start better at higher stance, then go lower. Internal strength does not need this, but on the other hand it also does not hurt you if you can take it. And it is NOT instable. Stability comes from where your center is, and it's also a strength thing and not a practical stance taken during moving.

Rep Power: 69 | | | Look at figure B1 through B11, the problem is, that you could do that punching drill with absolutely no sense of proper internal body mechanics. It's an awesome drill IF you have somebody to press on your hips, to press on your fist, and show the proper way to engage your energy all the way from the ground. Otherwise you could just flop back and forth throwing your arm out there for the punch and never really engage your lower and upper bodies properly. But I guess that's the problem with body mechanics it's all experiental/existential, it's not just going through the motions but the FEELINING/SENSATION, hence all this talk of chi. |
