Rep Power: 69 | | | Yeah, nothing like standing to make even people who think they are in good shape cry.
I've heard your reaction before. If you've never been privy to the internal game, it's an interesting eye opener when you discover it.

Rep Power: 111 | | | Yeah, my teacher is kinda fond of coming up to new students after their first night of internal exercise and say, "Bet you didn't think standing in one spot was going to be hard".

Rep Power: 6 | | | Best of luck to you in your training. Focus on the structure and alignment. The more standing you do, the better off you will be in the long run. If I can offer my 2 cents worth, dont get caught up in learned lots of forms. Focus on a few basic things and you will progress more and farther.

Rep Power: 32 | | Yeah yeah yeah...laff at the new guy!! It's all good!! I have to say I was pretty amazed at how tired and fatigued i was at doing so little!!
Yeah the santi was pretty tough. Learned also I think it was called crouching monkey, and walking squating monkey as well. Also did a squat, can't remember the name of it, basically a buddah palm with right hand and then crouching with feet shoulder width apart with a crane's beak behind my back with my left hand.
Thanks for the advice jdhsingi! From what I was told crouching monkey was the basis for a lot of hsingi moves and principles. But for now I'll probably work those and the "tree hugging" hippie stance they taught me as well!! LOL |

Crouching monkey as you refer to it is also known as squatting monkey. It is a static posture originating from hsin i. That is the predessor of hsing i. It's core is 3 and a half movements. Excellent exercise.
The tree hugger stuff can kill your legs as well when properly aligned. Enjoy your training.....

* Squating monkey is one of the keys, its an old exercise and will build the body for the movements and help to transmit the power.
Just make sure that you learn it correctly and practice it correctly, its not an excericse you want to gloss over if you catch my drift.

Rep Power: 23 | | | Can you guys describe (if possible) what it is you are doing while "standing" that makes it so hard Are you keeping your muscles tense, are you sitting in a low stance, etc etc Or is it something more mental, and has to do with power redirection or anything like that
