Rep Power: 38 | | | There is more to pi than just the up and down movement.
For instance, in the method that we perform pi, there also exists zuan and a little bit of heng too.
The structural requirements are such that you're standing (obviously) but as to the rest of it, there is room for change.
Eagle Pi is not the same as Tiger Pi, but they're both pi's and body structure is different.
Its difficult to discuss without being specific im afraid (and we cant even pin it down to the 'standard' 5 element pi, since people do it differently too!). |

Rep Power: 38 | | | Anyhow, as for a followup, a tuo xing app works really well, since your extended chopping hand is ready waiting to commit to a nasty sideways elbow to the jawline, and/or a 'throw' of sorts (though doin some bad ass damage to the already previously damaged back and head).
But then, im betting people aint got a clue as to which app im referring to, so i'll shut up. |

Tiger Pi is just so darn messy.

Rep Power: 15 | | | I have been told Pi Quan has a falling action in it, like an axe. The hand raises to the eyebrow, falls and pushes forward, but is the energy going downward, forward or at an angle

Rep Power: 38 | | | Well it works for me, especially if you want to break from the 'traditional' 5 element fighting routine that follows the element cycles.
For instance:
A does beng, B deflects with Pi
A starts to deflect with pao, at which point B slides in more than usual (thus committing A to ensure he deflects). The lower hand begins to move forward (depending on what you're doing this could be behind A's back or neck), and the pi'ing hand quickly switches from a downward chopping motion to either a horizontal push to the guys head (and the hand behind does a quick tugging motion, hence taking the head off), or does a diagonal downward hammer type fist to the collarbone (and at the same time the hand that is behind pulls the waist towards them).
Its actions is that of a shearing type effect. I'll try and get all these differences in the photos. |

Gotta be careful with A's rising arm while doing Pao. If you take the wrong angle you'd have fist for breakfast.
The one I was talking about is: The opponent attacks with his right. Deflect with an inside slap with your left, Strike with a right Pi to the head. Advance with your left foot so that your left leg is behind both his legs. Slide your left arm over his right and wrap (Tou).
If you want to do it from the inside, do the wrapping motion with your right hand on the right side of his neck, your left arm helping your right in case the guy's too heavy. He'll fall face first to the ground.
