Rep Power: 6 | | Purpose of five fists Most of us will agree that the core of Hsing i is san ti and the five fists.
Question: Why five fists and what do they really do for the student who is learning them

Rep Power: 100 | | | maybe it would be helpful to list them (and a brief description) to help others understand that don't know the art... then the relationship of performance might be more clear.

Rep Power: 6 | | Here you go: Pi chuan is associated with metal. It is the splitting fist.
Tsuan chuan is associated with water. It is the drilling fist.
Beng chuan is associated iwth wood. It is the crushing fist.
Pao chuan is associate with fire. It is the pounding fist.
Heng chuan is associated with earth. It is the crossing fist.
I guess I targeted this post to people who are practicing this art.
For a more detailed description of these fists go to my website under articles. A more detailed descritpion is there www.jimdees.com

Rep Power: 100 | | | each represent an application of a principal of the laws of nature..these are found in nature and so in the self. The applcation of force is performed through the nature of the force and the type of fist is based on that nature.
The student can both learn and understand the meaning and abilities of a much larger concept

Rep Power: 22 | | There purpose is to instill the primary principles of combat and power generation into the student.
They are principles that can be applied to any movement. Primarily they arnt specific techniques but they all do have effective applications also.
The 'point' of these movements is their principles not the movements themselves.
You could do the movements all day long, know the element theories and the desructive cycles etc - but if you dont feel and understand the key principle of each fist - you wont have too much!
cheers
chris

Rep Power: 38 | | | If you want to find out more about this, I would suggest that when the book I am currently working on is published, you go buy a copy.
It has all your answers!
And no, i will NOT give an excerpt. If you want to read it, buy it. |
