new to the list... i started studying hebei xingyi about two months ago, and so far, i love it. just a quick question to anyone this applies to... how long did it take for you to be able to fa jing or feel the jing of a strike and what does it feel like (to the practitioner, not the receiver of the strike). thanks. |

during san ti the other day, i almost blacked out!!! well, not exactly. everything seemed to get darker and i was very relaxed. my sifu said it was because my chi wasn't sinking into the tan tien. is there a mental exercise/visualization for sinking the chi into the tan tien this was a very strange and interesting experience. |

Drop and round shoulders. Bear shoulders in Santi.
Sink chi by breathing into it. Relax.
Blackout - bad circulation - not enough blood.
Breath through your nose down to the belly - use the diaphram.
If you think of expanding your torso(belly and back) that wwould help.

Rep Power: 0 | | What Allan_Tsang said. Try to breath naturally though, and if im correct, you have to breath through the nose only. go to www.emptyflower.com/xingyiquan and look in some of the classics. |

It took a while - a long while. Its not like something that can be taught. Well, ok it can, but it wont mean you'll be any good at it.
Interestingly though, if you're doing hebei you wont actually do much fa jing, but rather hei jing. (This is the steamroller feeling - if on the receiving end). Doing it feels natural and right.
Thats about it I guess. |

This could be a couple of things - you're exceptionally good at meditation (the whole tunnel vision thing can occur), or
Bad circulation.
Either way, little tricks to keep your blood moving are to breath fully, making use of the abdominal muscles (like in that whole reverse breathing thing). The instant that you stop breathing correctly, the instant you stop bloodflow...
dont take a genius to work out whats happening next.
Incidentally, if this whole thing occurred over a long period of time (im talking hours now) then dont worry. It was time for oyu to sit down and drink some tea. |
