Rep Power: 0 | | | Xing Yi Quan Xue hey everyone,
i just picked up Xing Yi Quan Xue by Sun Lu Tang; great book so far. I was wondering if anyone else has read it and, if so, could provide any help in deciphering section five: The Important Points of Xing Yi Practice with all the crossing means following, following means beginning, etc. thanks. |

Rep Power: 0 | | I think i know what "following means beginning" means
I think it means that when you follow your opponent, you can attack first even though he threw his punch first. Like, you follow his movements, and by that you can begin your own. Not sure about that though.
Dont have Xing Yi Quan Xue, but i do want to buy some good book about xing yi quan that will compliment my xing yi practice So, if you can recommend it, just tell me. |

What happens with me, is that I read that stuff, have no idea what it means, train hard, read it again, train some more, and then I begin to understand what it means. To me, internal writings, if you understand them, in their esoteric language, is more a validation of your own understanding that a path for initial learning. But, like Zen Koans, good to ponder at the beginning.....

What I got out of that was intent and form.
You drill but you follow - drill being the movement and following is the intent - tha's the e.g.
Then the next point is - no movement has one intent. It's circular - despite people saying it's linear. The mind flows - so does the movements. It changes from one to another. Each carrying the potential of another movement but from the intent.
